I know these are for computers, but is there any reason it wouldn't work on my Direct TV DVR?
Whenever we get bad weather there's usually several of those little power interuptions that last for just a few seconds. Just enough to cause the DVR to reboot which takes about 15 minutes. Just when we need the TV for weather updates the satellite is always down.

Sir.
If you get UPS that is sized correctly, it will carry the power interruptions on a DVR with no problem. That does not mean that the cable company building that sends the TV signal will be working.

They also work well on garage door openers. Got an $80 one from Office Depot and it will open and close my door 10 times in a row.

Be careful running motors off a UPS. Motors have a high in-rush current, often six times their normal current.

The UPS will work fine for the DVR if the problem is an AC interruption. It won't help if the problem is signal loss due to heavy precip.

DVR are computers you just can get into them.....well you shouldn't get into them......

Make sure they clean the power signal too.

Start caps are there for a reason. The UPS will protect its self. Been doing it for 3 years without a problem. Haven't smoked it yet, but I will keep an eye on it.
