A local shop has 4 used Airlites sitting on the self for $399. They look like police trade-ins with a good bit of holster wear on them. They do look a little rough. But if I can find one that is good and tight with good timing how does this price sound? I have a Airweight (642) and was going to buy a second one. I should be able to get a new(642) one for a little less than the used Airlite. How is that price on the used Airlite?

A little more info. I cant find what model it was. It was silver like my 642, said "Airlite" on it, sights like my 642 but with a pined black ramp sight up front, shrouded barrel and a shrouded hammer just like my 642. It is 38SPL +p, not 357 and no lock. Any ideas what model number it is?

Not good at all, considering brand new no lock 642/442s are running around $350 these days.
it is a little nicer than the 642 with the Ti cylinder and barrel shroud.I thought it was a little nicer than a Airweight.

Ah, so you don't just want another carry piece but something more interesting. Sounds like a 342, they seem to be very well regarded from old threads I just searched through. Not sure on the price.

A quick check of gun broker completed auctions shows one 342 in "fair" condition that sold for $385. The rest sold for over $450. One gun (with older-style Crimson Trace grips) was listed many times with no takers for $689.

I'd offer $350 and hope to end up at $375.

The description you gave (shrouded hammer) sounds kinda like a M 638 type. The shrouded barrel has me wondering though.
Our terminology may be different but IMO, with an enclosed hammer (ala 642/442) and AirLite markings, it sounds like maybe a 342.

Sounds like 342's. $399 tells me that the bottom has fallen out of the market for these as a while back you couldn't find one for less than $600 and I saw some as high as $750. I agree that if you can get one for $350 OTD that is a great deal as the Ti cylinder weight difference percentage wise is substantial vs the steel cylinder in the 442/642 class. The guns don't seem to hold up well cosmetically, but to me, for a pocket gun, that is not an issue. I have a 337 that weighs 13.5 oz LOADED vs a 637 that weighs in at around 15oz UNLOADED. A substantial differential. If I could pick up even a cosmetically challenged 342 for $350 I would do it in a heartbeat. Hell, I'd buy one at $399.

I got mine for $390 OTD in nearly new condition 2.5 years ago and I absolutely love it. I am pretty sure the pawn shop had it confused for a 642. I changed the rubber grips to some older factory lumber, slips in and out of the pocket really easy.

They are good looking revolvers, I like the slab sided barrel and pinned black front sight. Very sharp.

342?? or 642/442 ??

Shop in my area sells NEW 442/642 for $360 OUT THE DOOR!

342 is out of production and generally brings HIGHER price.
