I would like to have one of these. Buds has one listed for $799. They have had it for awhile and I think the price is too high. They say it is in great shape and has no lock Are they not too far off or should I pass?

I don't think you're going to see many or any M19's with locks. I just picked up a clean 4" nickel M19 for $400, so I think that's a bit high. Bob!

The Model 19 with a 2.5" barrel is a VERY desirable revolver, but Bud's is way too high with their price, IMHO.

I would only consider paying that price if the gun was absolutely BNIB, with all papers, etc., and it was pinned and recessed. If it had a really nice set of real ivory grips, I wouldn't even hesitate, but aside from that, I would have to be pretty flush with cash to pay that much, even for a new P&R model.YMMV.

I think Goldenlight is spot on with his assessment. In my opinion, the nickeled version of the Model 19 with 2.5 inch barrel commands a slightly higher premium than the blued steel versions, and it looks like a Model 66 - the stainless steel version of he Model 19. I think Bud's price is grossly unrealistic - even in this crazy market.

Best of luck,

Dave

I just bought a blued Model 19 at Grices gun shop, looks like brand new. I paid $480 for it. When were the dates of manufacture for the Model 19? It's a very nice revolver and it's my first Smith&Wesson.
