I have a 629 Mountain Revolver (precursor to the mountain gun) that was made in I believe 1983 or so. I know that .44 special cartridges can be fired in a magnum cylinder, but what are the long term effects other than the lead "ring"? Is it possible to flame cut the cylinder walls where the .44 spec case ends with repeated firing? I want to use this gun with Speer Gold Dot .44 special cartridges for ccw. I have a Simply Rugged pancake holster from Alaska that hides the 629 quite well. even with only a loose bowling shirt. Heck I even use one to carry my 637 .38 every day. On a hot day the 637 goes in a Milt Sparks Summer Special, but I am getting off topic, sorry. So, would repeated and I mean a lot of firing of .44 spec hurt my 629? and how does one clean the lead from the cylinder anyway?
