I know there is a lot of discussion on here about getting started in USPSA vs IDPA and people's concerns about having a competitive USPSA setup for the Revolver division. While the Revolver division is dominated by the Model 625 (a 6 shot, moonclip fed revolver chambered for .45 ACP set up to make Major power factor) there is plenty of opportunity to TRY shooting USPSA with other gear, including IDPA stuff. The big investment is in the speedloader holders and speedloaders. Most IDPA revolver shooters have 3 or 4 speedloaders (3 to carry and sometimes one to "Make Ready" with). A long USPSA field course may be 32 rounds, so one could really get away with only buying two more speedloaders (loading the gun by hand at the start) and two carriers, which can be those cheap nylon ones. The gun in this video is an IDPA compliant Model 67 that cost 210 dollars + tax. I have a holster for it that I got for free. The belt was from another setup. Can't get cheaper than that.
Unfortunately, I was the only one shooting revolver at this match; for those looking to get into USPSA, the round count here is atypical. This was a special "for fun" match to close out the season that just involved a lot of shooting.
PS, manipulating the gun when it is freezing cold is hard!
