I'm looking to replace my flashlights with something a bit more reliable.
NOTE: I'm not looking for a streamlight or other polce type light! I have those already!

I'm looking for a good reasonably priced LED light. AAA batteries and 1" diameter....
I have a few types but most are store brands, or Home Depot buys "Husky"...
They all seem to flicker, or go out until you tap them on something... It drives me nuts....
I'd like good fuel economy if thats possible.. What do you guy's use in the "don't need a loan" category??

Since my Granddaughter lost my Surefire LED somewhere in the house 3 months ago, my son got me one of the Surefire G2X PRO dual output leds for Christmas. First click on the switch goes to 15 lumens at about 45 hrs battery life and the second click send it to 200 lumens at about 2.5 hr life. With the price of the Duracell, etc. batteries the $20 a dozen I pay a dealer friend at the gunshows for the Surefire 123As isn't that much worse. Sure is nice to click the extra power when needed.

PS You can find them on Amazon a lot cheaper than most stores.

I like my Inova lights. One is about the size you want AND IS BRILLIANT.

i ALSO HAVE ONE THAT TAKES A SINGLE NORMAL AA BATTERY, AND IT SEEMS TO LAST QUITE AWHILE IF USED AT THE RATE THAT i USE IT. It is astoundingly bright for its size

Sorry. The caps lock came on. Anyway, I got my lights at Target. I think the larger was about $30. It has been worth it.

Fenix stuff is pretty good, pricey though. They have models that take AA batteries, but their high powered stuff is CR123s or the rechargeable versions. I love my TK35, four modes of brightness and use range from 170 hours down to about an hour and a half at 860 lumens. Great light!

When I worked as a repair tech at Rubbermaid, I carried a Mini-Maglight. I put the led conversion kit in it. That made it brighter and the batteries lasted longer but I'd get the occasional, tap it on something problems.
My wife got me a Brinkmann led flashlight for my Birthday. It has an anodized knurled aluminum body with the end caps sealed with "o" rings. The center led is magnified. It's very bright with a brighter dot in the center. It has a switch on the endcap and I haven't had to tap it on anything yet.

I got another cheaper Dollar General led flashlight. It's lighter and has a plastic body. It's pretty dependable for what it is. I like keeping one of these cheap little led flashlights in each room of the house, "just in case."

Happy New Year Reuben!
Check out the TerraLUX stuff at Amazon. I bought both a Fenix and a TerraLUX about a year ago. I now have a house full of the TerraLUX stuff. All are AA sizes just work well. I like everything about them. Most come with a nice sheath.

I like the Fenix E20. It uses 2 AA cells, which I prefer to AAA cells. The cells both cost about the same but the AA has twice as much energy. It looks like they don't make it any longer. The E 21 seems the same. $35.
I have had mine for several years and use it daily. Nice, bright white LED light.

I have a couple of different models of the Fenix lights. One thing that I like is that mine have a very low setting 10 lumens and high on mine vary from 180 to 520 lumens. The 180 max uses 2 AA and the 520 uses 4 AA. You will be amazed at the range the high settings will reach. I bought mine on Amazon.

To see reviews of lights by people obsessed with them go to CandlePowerForums and look at the brand that you are considering.

after getting myself a fenix e11 i will be buying more of this brand. rides in my pocket everyday, have never needed to twist it to the high output setting yet. runs on one AA battery. i will look into the terralux brand at some point.

Neat little keychain led light CHEAP n bright (under $8 delivered).....Streamlight Nano-- going strong after a year.

Ditto. I have a couple different Surefires and gave both my kids Surefires for their homes. The dual output is convenient and handy. The new Fury I bought has 72 hours of runtime on the low setting and 500 lumens if I need more. The LED bulbs never burn out. Plus the 123A's store for 10 years. It's more expensive but you're only buying once.

PS. Happy New Year!

I've ordered several from superbrightleds.com. I've been far happier with them than the cheap ones from Harbor Freight or Lowe's.

I keep a surefire by the bed,a maglight in just about every closet but having frequented Slickguns for awhile now I kept coming across the 7w 300lm Cree Led for $5.36 shipped and curiosity got the better of me so I ordered 5 thinking they would be great for maybe the car, toolbox and range bag.
While I wouldn't consider them a primary light, I was pleasantly surprised at the quality and performance for the price,Way better than anything I've picked up at Home Depot,Sears or Lowes.
I now have them in every car, knapsack, rangebag and tool box.
