The compromise bills have passed both houses and been sent for signing.
The good news is Va will honor all states that issue concealed permits of any type, thus keeping reciprocity agreements intact.

Gov. McAuliffe should sign off on the three bills this week as he has previously agreed to "the deal". Since the law will take effect on July 1st, we will have to recind the termination of reciprocity order or extend the effective date to 1 July so there is no loss of reciprocity with any other state. Stay tuned for details if you are traveling next month to make sure you're ok.

Thanks for the update.

Please keep us posted on this ...... I have children/grandchildren in Virginia and travel there often. Prefer to not have to be concerned about being armed.

Update!

Gov. McAuliffe signed 6 bills making up "the deal" today. However, this will take effect on 1 July 2016. We do expect that the reciprocity now ending on 1 March will be either extended to 1 July or revoked but this has not been done yet. Stay tuned for updates as soon as we learn of them.

This is a big victory for gun rights in Virginia!

Yes, it is, but it should never have been an issue to begin with. We already had reciprocity with all concerned before this came up.
I'm firmly in favor of no more compromises concerning the second amendment.
If there is something someone wants addressed, fine, address it but don't hold second amendment rights hostage to do so.

I am hoping something changes with this. I have a VA CCW and I am currently stationed in SC which is a state on the list to end reciprocity but my CCW is from. I guess I need to start looking for a CCW class here in SC the way its looking.

It's changed...back. The threat of losing reciprocity is gone. There does appear to be that month if gray area until it takes effect. I would think that will be dealt with too.

Reciprocity has been restored

Virginia has voided Lt Gov Herring's end of reciprocity by extending the effective date of his order to 30 June. On 1 July the new law takes effect. Go to Va State Police site for detailed list of the 30 states we recognize. We will add to this list on 1 July!
