Have an friend that may want to sell a 6" 29-3, dates to around 1983. Slight turn line, but otherwise pristine. Factory stocks and with a Bianchi 'Dirty Harry' style shoulder rig. I don't want to insult him with a lowball, but would $800-900 be out of line? I think he'd let it go for $900. Thanks,

Patrick

The gun without the rig, no box, good condition, $800 is in the normal range. They do routinely go for less, though. It's not high. Middle of the road.

The shoulder holster, if you really wanted it, I would value at 40% to 60% of what I could buy it for new internet price. Smiths hold and increase in value. Holsters, not so much.

Don't confuse the value of a dash 3 with the higher value of pinned and recessed dash 2s or or pre-lock .44s that are new enough to have the endurance package. Not considering the holster it would retail for $650 to $700 in my area.

A seller is hard pressed to get more than $50 for an old leather vertical shoulder holster. The most common Bianchi "Ditry Harry style shoulder rig" was their large size X-15. They sell for $35. Darn few people conceal carry long barrel N frames. It would take a winter coat to hide one. Shoulder rigs are not allowed at most gun ranges because while drawing the pistol's muzzle sweeps other shooters. Realistically they are only useful to deer hunters.

$700 for the package would not be low ball.

Within the past few weeks, I sold a 29-3 just as you describe (slight turn line - otherwise pristine) for $800 with the (cardboard) box and tools in a FTF deal. No holster though.
