Stopped into my local shop and saw a mint nickel 27-2 with the long barrel. Fired 5 times (only 5 of the cylinders have any marks in them at all) easily a 99% gun. All original box, paperwork, wax paper etc. It has a front blade sight that is vertical at the back and rounded at the front. I've only ever seen them with ramped sights. They're asking $939. Is that way high or just right?

Also grips are factory, seem to be original. They are a light colored wood with no finger grooves. Not walnut so not really sure what they are made of

Pictures would help for sure to evaluate this gun. The front sight you describe is a patridge sight and is what was shipped on the gun.

The price the shop is asking is a little on the high side but depends on how bad you got the itch.

I think $939 is a reasonable price. Blue 3 1/2 and 5 inch barrels have been seen advertised in the $1500 range. The 8 3/8 inch barrels seem to sell for less for some reason. I like them. But, that is a nearly new gun that has not been made for 35 or so years. The front sight is called a Patridge sight. If the front sight is blue, that is even better. The nickel sights can be hard to see in sunlight.

Under $1,000 like I been saying and what they say on wall st is buy, buy, buy. It's no longer buying just a gun to shoot it's an investment.

I'm not sure what the better investment is the stock market or s&w. My stocks are smoking hot right now. I have a little but if I had more $$ I'd be day trading. I made a killing the last time I day traded. But there's a time to get out of the pool when the sharks arrive. Can't get greedy.
