Value of vintage .357

I blew the picture up, I think you're right, maybe not a trigger shoe. Not sure when the wide target triggers became available. I wouldn't let that bother me though.
Jeff:

I too blew it up and I am almost positive that your first impression was right - it does wear a trigger shoe:unsure:. The photo is kind of blurry there in the trigger area, but I still think the trigger is to thick (front to back) without it wearing a trigger shoe. It will be fun to find out the answer when the OP brings it home.

I appreciate all the info. Before I'd even made this post I'd sent the seller a message telling him I was interested and would like to schedule a time to see it. I figured if it checked out it was worth the asking price and you guys confirmed it was worth a good bit more. But, the seller is not the best communicator. I only heard back from him about six hours later and he told me that someone else is taking a look at the gun tomorrow. It's a 2 hour drive, so I'm not going to sit there waiting to see if the guy is a looker or a buyer. So, I told the seller to let me know if the guy doesn't buy it and I'll be there. BTW, the asking price is $1K.
Well you don't have to worry about driving anywhere. It'll be gone. :(

If it isn’t gone, either that buyer was unschooled -or- there is a mechanical problem.

I bought a brand new Uberti/Cimarron Schofield from a good dealer. Turned out it had .008” of endshake and had to go back to Cimarron for a year. Gun looks fantastic and I just can’t stand it even though the endshake was fixed.

My point is that the gun could be a fantastic deal or a paperweight. You won’t know until you handle it. Although at $1,000 with box and Cokes, your downside risk is quite small.

Hopefully you'll be able to snatch up that very nice .357 Magnum for $1K! That would be an outstanding buy! I picked up this one about 15 years ago at a local gun shop for $545 and was happy to get it (sorry for the bad photo, it was taken right after purchase and before cleaning). No box or goodies, but it is all matching and in VG condition, and I really like the 6-1/2" barrel on my magnums! Good luck!

The gang is right-on! BUY THAT SUCKER TODAY! While the gun should have Magna stocks on it (the Target stocks weren't available on the .357 until late 1954), so the Cokes will certainly add value for buying the gun, and I haven't seen a pre-Model 27 here on the left coast for less than two grand (see Relic's notes above).

It's a trigger shoe. I had him send me more pics.

I would have offered $1200 as I was climbing in the trucj

Unfortunately, it seems like someone else beat me to the purchase. But, I had the seller send me some more photos. It is a trigger shoe.

Well, if the seller had got back to me sooner, it be mine right now. But, he notified me that someone else was looking at it yesterday. I'm sure they are tickled to death right now.

Wait til one of the guys here posts more pictures of it. :ROFLMAO:

I’m teasing but yea, I have missed things I should not have and bought things I was t sure of just in case. A friend of mine had a registered magnum with the box, a letter, everything. We only spoke on occasion after i moved away but I sometimes wonder what happened to that gun after he passed. I’m not the type to call a widow after a gun guy dies. I HATE that!

When a good deal for a gun comes along, I'm lucky not to have multiple speeding tickets.😁

Recently, someone on a local board offered up a late 1940s tapered barrel K-38 converted to SAO and with Sanderson thumbrest stocks for $650 😲. I think my fingers broke the sonic barrier replying with an, "I'll take it!" Hopefully I can show it off in June...silly WA laws slow everything down.

A few years back I was advertising to buy guns. A woman responded with 3 guns from her dad that just passed.
66ND snub boxed
1956 Combat Magnum
29-2 4" Nickel Presentation Box

I drove 2 1/2 hours hoping she would answer my call. She was not available.🫥
Drove again the next day. Got in the door. Came home with all 3. Also got A Colt 1903 Pocket Hammer..

Good day, no tickets.
