I had to take down some rust on the top of the slide of my 1994 model 915 that also took away some finish. I reblued the spot using 44/40. In some lighting it’s fine, in other lighting it’s fairly noticeable. If this is the best I can get it than I can live with it, it’s a value series after all. But if I can match the value series factory slide finish better I’d like to. I did try Birchwood Casey’s superblue and that was a worse match. Any other suggestions?

Last one I touched up was a 36 that someone had lightly put their SSN on the butt by the serial #. I polished out the SS # and I had to give the butt several applications of 44/40 to get it to match.

Carefully touch up the entire curved area, to the edges, where it meets the flats. Even if the grit of the repaired area is not quite right, it won't be as obvious, as long as it is uniform.
