If anyone needs vapor blasting done, I will take in the work. I am an FFL. I have not done any gun parts yet as all of my smiths are in pristine condition. I have done some super fine glass bead and aluminum oxide blast on smiths in the past to restore them. The vapor blast is alot less aggressive. I use it for motorcycle parts restoration primarily.

What is vapor blasting?

its sand blasting/media blasting that uses a water and media slurry to give a very smooth, non peened finish. I suspect this is what smith is doing on alot of their newer stuff. I have 15+ years in metal finishing experience and the finish on my 629PC is nothing I have ever been able to do with super fine glass bead. I also have a stainless Kershaw pocket knife that has a similar finish, I assume its vapor blasted. I do know that the older smiths like the 4006, 5906..... the stainless parts were blasted with a glass bead mixture with a slightly more aggressive media mixed in like a crushed glass or white aluminum oxide.
