For some reason I've always prefered Victorinox, though I don't know why.

My only two previous wengers had tools that sprung. They went in the garbage...Victorinox did not.

When I was in my 20's I bought a Victorinox Super Tinker. I lost the tweezers and in a dumb moment, I tried to pry something with the main blade and part of it broke off. I pitched the knife in a drawer and forgot about it. I bought another one just like it. I went to a trade show almost 20 years later and I mentioned having the knife to the Victorinox rep at the show. He told me to send it back since it had a lifetime warranty. I mailed it in and a couple of weeks later, I received a new one in the mail. I now have 2 of them and I take better care of them now. You can still get the same knife on amazon for less than $20.

Since I bought a Leatherman about 20 years ago, my Swiss Army Knives have become curios. IMHO the Leatherman is a much more useful and ergonomic tool. JMHO of course.

Another vote for Victorinox. I've been carrying the same 'Huntsman' SAK for over 30 years...replaced the scissors spring, the tweezers and the toothpick a few times, broke the tip of the small pen blade using it as a pry on something and had it reground. I wore the Swiss cross off the scales years ago. I get it professionally sharpened every year or so at the local gunshow and the knife goes with me everywhere. I also have a Victorinox "leatherman" I keep close by, but don't usually wear unless I've got a project going.

Victorinox, I carried one for 35yrs. with the fire department and used it daily. Still going strong although one of the scales is loose. I don't want to send it in as they will probably just send me a new one and I would miss my old companion.

Wenger makes one with a cigar cutter. I've got 3 of them. One in each jeep and a spare. Keep in mind I only smoke 2 cigars per year, so the chances of them wearing out is very low.

Also, both companies are owned by the same group now. Its not really 2 different companies.

I've had both but also prefer Victorinox. They just seem a little better made.

I've abused the heck out of several Swiss Army Knives and only the Victorinox take it for a long time. The tools are very well made and the knife blades are just hard enough to take an edge, but still flexible enough not to snap off or chip when you do things to them you really shouldn't!

All of mine are Victorinox. In aknife store in Colorado Springs in the early 70's, they had a complete line by Puma but they were 10 to 20% higher! Been sorry ever since.

With my Victornox collection and a Leatherman, I can out MacGyver, MacGyver.

Add duct tape and a vise grips and I can build anything!:D

I've owned and used both, victorinox seems to hold an edge a bit better but I think wenger's small tools hold up better. Victorinox scissors break easily, wenger's do not, the wenger screwdrivers and can and bottle openers have also held up better for me. I use them heavily, still own both, think the wengers get more use and last longer before they get replaced

I have both, usually carry Vic. THey're sharper out of the box in my experience ,and better finished.
