Last January Ordnanceguy on this forum advised me that my Victory V1189xx had probably been shipped from the factory in September-October of 1942. I had it lettered by the factory, confirming that it was shipped to the U.S. Navy at Oakland, CA. on October 19, 1942. Hope this helps narrow down the Victory database.

Nice photo, digi-shots! Your Victory looks like it is in nicer shape than mine.

Hello Dosgtos:

Thanks for posting the update on your Victory. I am happy to see that the estimated shipping date I gave you from the Victory Database turned out to have been pretty accurate.

Our ability to do this is wholly dependent on the accuracy and completeness of the information we get from collectors like you, who generously share the details on their Victory Models for inclusion in the Victory Database. We will now update the Database to include this latest information from you.

Thanks again, and congratulations on a fine revolver.

Regards,

Outstanding! That would seem to narrow mine down some too....I haven't sprung for a letter yet.

Mine is #V118235. Would anyone care to comment on the possibility of these two guns having been shipped together? How many guns would they have shipped to the Navy in the same shipment?

Butch,

Charlie and I have, to date, three U.S.N./Oakland shipments in Octobe of 1942: the 19th, the 21st & the 26th. Yours could have been in one of them or gone out on another date. As is well known, they didn't ship 'em out in SN order, so there's no real way to tell a *specific* date without Roy's letter; we'll just try to get you in the ballpark within a month or three.

Thanks for the update. Good to know that we're helping out. Please keep the data coming, guys!

Ordnanceguy (Charley Flick):
Thank you for all your work on this subject. Even though I know it is a labor of love, it still takes dedication, patience, and personal time. Individuals like you make this, or ANY hobby or field of interest, worth while.

My respect, Sir!

Apologies to LWCmdr45 (Steve): I shoudl have included you in my kudos to Charlie.

Thank you also!
Peter

I'll take the thanks, but must bow to Charlie's superior knowledge and drive when it comes to the info we're accumulating in the database. I may have proposed the idea, but he routinely outworks me by several factors.
