Hi John:

Could you give us a little more information, please? Caliber, barrel length, finish type, type of stocks, markings on the butt and left top strap, and post-factory markings or modifications? With that additional information I think the Victory Database can come up with some good estimates for you.

Regards,
Charlie Flick

I will add some more, it is a 4" barrel ,38 special,on top left strap it has a bomb then U.S.PROPERTY G.H.D., that is all of the marking that I can see. It has the sand blast finish.

Hi Bullseye:

Thanks for the additional information. You have a beautiful example of the Victory Model there.

From our Victory Model Database, I can estimate for you that your Victory was likely shipped from the factory in the May, 1943 time frame. I think chances are very good that your Victory would letter as having been shipped to the US Navy.

I recommend that you get a factory letter to confirm this information. If you do, I hope that you will post back here when you receive that information.

I hope that this has been helpful to you.

Bullseye, That's one gorgeous Victory model. Charlie's right - get a letter and chances are very good it went to the Navy, as many guns in close serial range to yours wound up there. There should be a small "P" stamped on the right side of the frame, probably towards the front of the cylinder cut out. Where ever this gun went after it left S&W sure didn't give it much use, as it seems to have stayed very minty.

Thanks Guys for the information, I can't find any small "p" on the gun. It would be great if it was a Navy model. I will get a letter on it for sure. Thanks John

Bullseye Smith,
Now that's the Victory I dream of owning one fine day. That's the nicest one I've ever seen. Thank you for sharing.

Bob

A very handsome revolver. Aquiring a nice example is always a pleasure. Gives me the urge to take some pics and post one or two.
