I've posted this before, but still quite amazing.
First click on a state. When it opens, scroll down to the city that you grew up in or acquainted with and look at the names. Click on the name and it will give details of the person's death, a picture or at least their bio and medals.

Nobody from Oakham..but the population in the Vietnam war era was only about 700 people.

Went to the physical wall in 2022. It is a fitting and moving memorial to those who served as well as those who didn't make it back. Even if you didn't serve, it will stir up memories of the time. Well worth the time to spend there.

During the planning phase I did not like the design. I did not like the girl who designed it. After being there in person I found it deeply profound and moving, but what I really liked was the addition of the statute. That brought it home for me. The grid system for finding names is pretty good. I still don't like the design, especially the black granite. It is what it is.

Was there working in DC when the memorial was dedicated. I too remember all the angst surrounding the design. Seeing it in person takes your breath away.
