W-W 'Ranger' 9MM 127gr. +P+ for SD9?

I'm hoping this is a good combo. If not, I'm thinking about the W-W 147 STX or CorBon's 100 gr. PowerBall. OR...if I could find some Federal 95 gr. PSP!!!! Recommendations?

The 127's are good loads, but you gain nothing for the extra pressure over the Ranger 124 +p. There are other very good loads out there as well. Federal HST's, Corbon DPX, Speer Gold Dots, Ranger 147 gr Bondeds, both the Federal Tactical loads. All of these loads have good results according to sources, Doc Roberts included.

With the exception of the DPX's stay away from loads with less than 124 grain bullet weights, the perform at sub-par levels.

Whatever you buy, run at least 100 rounds of that ammo through your gun after it's broken in to make sure it feeds it smoothly. JMO.

You are correct and you should limit +P rounds as well.

Agreed.This advice is right on the mark.

It will work just fine, but as noted already, you gain pretty much nada for the added recoil and stress on the gun. Any of the Premium 147gr or 124gr +P loads will do just as well. I am a 147gr guy and prefer the HST, but when I was unable to find any I have used both the GD and the Ranger T with no worries and no problems. Doc Roberts has now tested the HST 124gr+P and found it to be an excellent load.

I don't bother with bonded rounds nowdays since I no longer feel the need to worry as much about shootings around cars...a major concern for LEOs, but the HST performs almost as well as the bonded rounds. When you can find it, it is also very affordable.

I've always been a '.45ACP' guy, but no longer get to shoot as much as I once did. The .45ACP requires more dedication and practice to maintain an adequate skill level than I am able to give it. The higher cost of practice ammo is also a consideration...so I'm going with the 9MM and good ammo. I think I'll go with the W-W 147s. Thanks, guys.
