Here's a few pics of an old gun I have custody of at the moment.

Anybody familiar with these German drillings? This one is not for sale but I'm curious if there is a market for them? Value? Rare or common?

It's a 20 gauge over 222. Has a Kahles scope not pictured.

Waffen-Frankonia is probably the most prominent nation-wide German purveyor of firearms and hunting supplies. They survived both world wars and reached their heyday in the gun business in West Germany in the later 20th century. They still have a few dozen stores all over Germany, with gunsmithing workshops. Their annual catalogs were all over our house when I grew up. Later they branched out into clothing and other related stuff.

They built a lot of common “house brand” hunting guns. Rifles built on Zastava 98 Mauser actions, target rifles, and the combination guns that are the bread and butter of German hunters, like this Drilling you are showing.

So it’s not a high-value piece crafted by some master gunsmith. The engraving looks fairly routine too. But the Böhler Blitz steel is generally considered one of the best traditional barrel steels, and it‘d be a great everyday use gun for a German hunter who‘d like a few fancy enhancements. With that caliber combo, the German owner would be mostly hunting roe deer, and not expect boar or red deer (elk) in his area.

No idea though what price sombody would put on it here.
