Hey all. I am in the market for one of those 8-shot, moon-clip fed 627 snubbies from the S&W Performance Center. None of the LGS around here, and there are quite a few, have any in stock (which is not all that out of the ordinary for a PC item). But in regards to ordering one, the retailers at least, are giving me the impression that they can try to order on, but that I should definitely expect to wait a year or a year and a half! That's a long stretch of time at my age and in these uncertain and unstable times! I want in NOW LOL. Is this normal for Performance Center items? Do they only do limited runs from time to time, and when there are enough unfulfilled orders to warrant making a batch? I'm certain I can walk into any gun shop around here and find 642's and other J and K frames in stock, but its frustrating I can't find the 627 I have my mind set on. Has anyone else ordered one recently, and do you know if S&W is still making them?

It may not even be order related, just when they have the manufacturing capacity. Searching online for NOS or used ones may be your best chance to find one.

They had one last week at my lgs. Armed in America in Bulverde Texas. I handled it a little to see how the weight compared to my 327pc. It looked to be in great condition.

Thanks for the replies both of you! Yeah, I'm wondering though why they seem to have more manufacturing capacity for more mainstream stuff like the 642 and 686 and other more common
wheelguns. I pondered looking abroad, but I have zero experience shopping for and buying guns online. Never really had to resort to that before. I guess that's why my OP above!;)

One of the very very few I would consider with a lock, only because the NL version is $$$$'s.

I don't know the exact price a no lock 627 snub has fetched recently, but I can imagine the price is seriously jacked up. As for me, I'm perfectly willing to save many hundreds, or a thousand extra bucks and just put up with the ugly IL.

In the last 18 months[give or take] wheel guns are the LAST thing on consumer's mind and S&W is going to make what sells which is all the game is about!
I have NO doubt that certain operations for revolvers overlap some revolver operations and hence the semi autos get the nod. There was probably no time when the PC guns were in abundance and Covid has only made it worse - IMO.
Go on Gunbroker and review the prices on Ruger revolvers - they are high and I believe Ruger's capacity on wheel guns exceeds that of S&W. They are doing the same thing - make what's selling.

They are doing the same with cars, automobile manufacturers are using the available chips for their best selling models.

Even paint colors are on constraint according to my local Acura dealer, with whom I am waiting to order a car for me.
