what's sad is that if they are fake he's charging more for them than the real ones.

are they stamped magpul on the back?

yes they say "MAGPUL XTM PANEL PAT PEND" on the back

i did notice that on their site they sell alot of PTS magpul stuff.

Does magpul make a PTS/chinese covers for airsoft?

i have an other package of XTM covers ariving today. i hope they arent fake :(

The ones I got from MidwayUSA and from Primary Arms are the real deal. Just sayin'...

If you look at Magpul's PTS site, they seem to have made a move to get away from having PTS and "Real" stuff for rail covers and other cosmetics by going with a single line of products (a.k.a. the "real" stuff) to meet both market needs. With the square shape of those, you probably have ***pul stuff (no alternative lifestyle offense here, just a reference to "Fake-Magpul"). I have seen fake Magpul (a.k.a. "***pul") PRS, MOE, and UBR stock wannabe products at the Nations Gun Show in Chantilly, VA, all for about 20% of the Magpul market value. Buyer beware--they are likely out of spec.

It's not surprising to see fake stuff being made for AR's, heck look at just about any thread on this very site talking about optics and you will see that there is a market for fake optics along with other fake AR items. As long as people keep buying this fake stuff unscrupulous people will continue to make it.

I see a lot of knockoff (exact replica) VFG's selling for $19 brand new, on Ebay and on Amazon. Be very wary about those since a real Magpul VGF should cost you $35 from pretty much any place.

Bravo Co USA is a licensed Magpul dealer - their VFGs are $23
.
Bravo Company USA, Inc. AR-15, M16, M4 Tactical Gear, Parts, Accessories.

People just need to buy from reputable dealers: Rainier Arms, Bravo Co USA, Brownells, Midway USA, Spike's Tactical, SKD Tactical, or directly from the manufacturers.

Highly recommend "holographic sights" for these panels. Great price, shipping isn't bad and they left the place fast!

Your link is for a RFG, not a AFG. Look at Bravo Co. for the AFG and you'll see it for $35.

I should've said AFG2, not the older AFG. Look anywhere and places (including Bravo Co.) are selling them for $35 But online you can find the AFG2 for $19 and you just know it's a knockoff.

Dave,

You referred to VFGs in your post, a generic reference to Vertical Forward Grips--no reference to AFG/AFG2--I was keeping red apples as red apples, not green ones; the AFG series runs at a higher cost due to demand. I don't ever worry about buying the knock-offs for any of my firearms gear because I only frequent official dealers and manufacturers for my kit. I should have stock in Magpul (no pun intended), having their parts/accessories on 4 AR-15 and 2 AR-10 rifles, and my M&P15-22.

Chinese made copies can be quite convincing sometimes. I bought a set of center caps for some FZJ80 Land Cruiser wheels I have. I think I paid @ $40 for them shipped (I doubt you can find used genuine ones for much less than $25 each) . The seller never claimed them to be the real deal. I got them and the packaging had a look-a-like Toyota part tag with all the numbers on them.

I knew what I was getting though.

report this stuff to Magpul!!! There were numerous cease and desist orders as well as several customs violations reported by Magpul, Trijicon, EOTech and several others @ SHOT this year...keep adding fuel to the fire and something will eventually get done by Magpul's legal team

I got screwed on a set of MBUS sights same way--NOT HAPPY but understand it isnt MAgpul's fault

Does not matter , you can't touch the Chinese , they don't recognize are patents , don't mean nothing to them , since it's in another country , now if it's a copy made in the states then you got a chance , but when it made over there forget it

Magpul isnt going after the manufacturers of the knock-offs--its the people importing them illegally that are committing FEDERAL crimes ( the key word here is FEDERAL) they can get Customs involved due to the importation typically bypassing taxes and such

They can also get any online sources ( reputable or otherwise) into some heat if the knock-offs have been reported and nothing has been done to rememdy the situation--

If people would have some morals and not be buying all these fake, counterfielt, or "clone" things there wouldn't be the probelms. The reason that companies are making this garbage is because people are buying them. Look at most of the threads on this site and you will see people talking all about their "clones". The people buying these things are just as to blame as the people making them.

its a vicious circle...people are trying to save a few bucks--so they buy a 'clone'...the legit companies need to make money so they raise the prices because they arent moving enough product...more customers buy 'clones' because their budgets cant afford the real deal...it makes sense--BUT at the end of the day I personally will spend a few extra $$ to make sure the capital is going to OUR companies

I report every fake Magpul listing i see on Ebay and Amazon to Magpul and will continue to do so

Decided that what everyone else does is on them--you have to look yourself in the mirror and if supporting communist counterfeiters doesnt make you wanna vomit--well at the end of the day its your call

Buy Cheap Pay Twice!

All of the "clone" stuff I have IS just as good as the real stuff. the mbuis I have exactly match the "real" ones my bud has, my stock is identical in size, weight, material as a real one. So here is my question, WHY the price difference?
A NAME!
If company A can sell something for $100, and B sells the same thing made from the same stuff, but it's $50 which are you gonna buy.
It's simple economics in this day and age.

Now I understand some/most of this clone stuff is no where near as good as the real deal, but for the stuff that is, it just goes to show the real people could sell it for way less.

the price difference is a little more than the name, you have to account for R&D, testing, and advertising etc... of course the clones are cheaper, they aren't paying for any of that. you get what you pay for.
