I went into our local Walmart Super Store today. El Centro, CA. The shelves that carried pistol ammo were all empty. They still had rifle and shotgun ammo, at least as far as I could tell. No one was manning the sales counter, as usual. I have never noticied anyone doing background checks. They may never have installed the equipment. Fortunately, I have plenty of ammo, and usually practice with laser ammo.

Yep, all gone here, too. They were selling Federal brass Case .45s for really cheap a couple weeks back but now it’s all gone.

End of an era. Oh well! Others places to get shells and I hate Walmart so much this gives me one less reason to go into that chaotic cesspool.

Along with announcing they would no longer sell pistol cartridges their head man announced that he'd sent letters to Washington D.C. advocating more restrictive gun laws. In response to their entering politics on the other side I stopped going in Wal-Mart. I suggest you do the same. Everything in Wal-Mart can be found in other stores.

I'm with you on that. I stopped shopping there when I heard they would stop selling ammo.

The problem city WM about 25 miles down the road from me (thats my closest WM) never seems to have anyone with the key to the ammo box.

When they do find a key person they make you jump through hoops if they suspect your buying handgun ammo. Most of the staff does not know the difference between a rifle and shotgun so pistol info is on the terminal when they punch in what you want! Try telling these clowns the ammo you want is for a rifle/carbine.

No thanks I'm not playing games I want ammo I go to a real gun store or load my own!

Still remember all the games they played with .22 ammo a few years back. The managers were making sure it only went to their friends with a lot of it being resold in smaller lots for much more money!

Ammo was one of the few things I bought at Walmart, and I did that only on very rare occasions when I needed something fast that I could not find elsewhere.

Walmarts have had a direct role in the decline of mainstreet stores and small businesses. They also have a long history of leaving urban scars when they close an old Walmart to open a new super Walmart in the 'burbs with the goal of putting local grocery stores out of business as well.

Walmart's labor practices have long been appalling. They have very few full time employees and cap hours to prevent having to pay any benefits. If you still shop there, that's why you are standing in line with only 3 or 4 checkers standing at those dozen check out lines, or why you have to wait 10 minutes for someone to show up at the gun counter - everyone else timed out on hours for the week.

Their recent anti-gun actions are just some extra nails in their coffin as far as my business is concerned. It's kind of ironic as well as the Walmart here in Greenville is one of the places where you really do need to carry a gun, given the volume of police calls to the store for way more than shoplifting.

During the great .22 LR shortage I had the same experience. I found out from one of the employees when the truck came, yet it never mattered as all the .22LR was sold before it even hit the floor. I'd see the same ammo on tables at the local gun shows for $100 for an $18 box of Win 555, or $150 per brick for CCI SV.

The days of being able to get those kind of prices are long gone at least here in Arizona
!

Actually, they’re not. At least online. I recently saw bricks for $18 and free shipping with a minimum purchase of $49 or $99 ( can’t remember).
It’s out there, you just have to search the web.

Dakota Mart (a more or less local chain in SD) had CCI SV on sale last June for $24.99 per brick of 500.

There are also still some good deals out there on things like Winchester Wildcat. Shipping eats you alive on small purchases, but 3 bricks is $70.65 after shipping is tacked on, and that still works out to $2.35 per box of 50.

CCI HV in the 525 round bulk pack is $16.99 at Sportsmans warehouse. Shipping for 3 boxes is $10.99, for a total of $61.96, which works out to $1.97 per box of 50.

My last purchases of .22 LR were from Fed Meyer. One of their big variety stores had a gun department that opened maybe five to eight years ago and closed this year. A few months ago they had 50 Federal 40 grain HV solids in the bluish silver gray boxes for 99 cents. They did not have full bricks on the shelf but I bought what amounted to 2 1/2 bricks. They only had new guns and the prices were not bargains. Since I did not buy a gun I can not complain about them not continuing selling them. I doubt that politics had anything to do with closing their gun counter but Fred Meyer is owned by Kroger so who knows?

I had not been in a Wal Mart for many months. My wife needed me to pick up a couple of things. Deliberately detoured and walked by the ammunition area. Practically nothing left but shotgun ammo. Bye bye!

Went to 2 WMs last week and both were almost completely out of handgun ammo. I did pick up the last 100 count WWB 40 on the shelf. It's never a good thing to lose a supplier, who has decent prices on ammo, at least in my opinion. :-(

Walmart Defined by Fear

Walmart's interpreted Evil Ammo all gone here in
Rapid City South Dakota.

They have different varieties of 22LR though.
Still have Shotgun, and Rifle Cartridges.

Only in America. It amazes me how Fear is
Defining us slowly and our Rights are slowly
being Chipped away and easily given up.

Gone here too. Went this weekend and the clerk said I missed the mark-down.

With the wacked-out stuff The Left is doing with the impeachment, and what they put Kavanaugh through, I'm not surprised WM bowed to them.
It shows good intentions that WM is continuing to sell 22's and shotgun shells.

Walmart running out of handgun ammo? Oh, no-o-o-o-o-o.

Reckon that means I'll have to keep buying all my ammo from a family-owned local gun shop as I've done for the past several decades.

Pretty much all gone in my area. One store had a few boxes of 25acp and lots of 40S&W, but the other store had zero rounds of any handgun ammo. The lady at the desk told me that one guy bought all the handgun ammo. I assume it will all show up at the local flea market and gun shows priced back to normal Walmart prices.

The strange thing was 223 ammo. All the fmj stuff was gone, but any 223 ammo with a soft or hollowpoint was still at the regular price. I guess those evil AR's are only capable of shooting fmj. One clerk told me since that was hunting ammo, it was o.k.

Didn't seem to be much activity or sales on Friday and shelves were stocked. Went by today and about the only thing left was WWB in 32acp. I'm still trying to figure out how they sold out that fast.
