How long has this 22 Colt been on the market? I have not seen one at any gun show nor gun shop. I just assume its new on the market. If you have one , please share your experience with it. I'm thinking about buying one for my Christmas stocking, what say ye?

fun gun that fits 1911 holsters

if this is what you are seeing... they came out quite a while ago and I believe are not made anymore... stopped when Colt changed hands.. I own one, lots of fun, not a bullseye pistol, but great plinker. . one of the bigger online sporting goods dealers had them on sale a week or so ago ..

They are still sold under the Walther brand...

Colt 1911 A1 | 10RD – www.waltherarms.com

I have the 'rail gun' version... wanted a cheap 1911 clone .22 for a suppressor host. It shoots decently, and mine runs well with CCI SV ammo. It's a plinker, not a target gun, so don't go in expecting it to be a tack driver. Then again, they're ~$300...

The Kimber is in a different category... of course the Kimber conversion kit costs more than the Walther complete pistol. I've had a Kimber conversion unit in the past and it was excellent.

My Kimber is a complete pistol, not a conversion unit. It cost as much as any other 1911 and it shows. Buy once, cry once. To me it was worth the $.

I bought a Kimber conversion kit and it shot well enough on my Kimber Gold Match frame that I wanted to make a dedicated pistol out of it.

I had a JPE frame that I had used on a Brolin slide with a .400 CorBon barrel, and that became the slide of choice as .400 CorBon wasn’t really all that great.

I found that some fitting was required to get the Kimber slide to function reliably on the JPE frame but since that fitting was accomplished it has been an excellent .22 LR 1911. It’s not bullseye match accurate but for general range use and plinking it’s great. It’s also a formidable pistol in .22 LR bowling pin and plate shoots.

I have been quite pleased with an older Colt .22 conversion kit for the 1911. It has been very reliable and quite accurate. It turns a 1911 / 1911A1 into a .22 LR in a matter of minutes. Great fun at the range, and if cared for, a decent investment if you have a 1911 sitting around.

I've had two of the Colt units and eventually sold both. Neither were what I would call accurate. Maybe I just got a couple of bad ones.

GSG makes a nice cheap copy of the .22 cal 1911.....TONS of aftermarket parts out there for them too. I been shooting mine for about 6-7 years with zero problems. Their magazines are all metal and of high quality. I changed the followers in mine converting them from 10 rd to 14 rd. Check them out.......Sig also sells a GSG .22-1911 rebranded with their name on it.

I just bought a Walther Colt 1911 Government Model .22 at a gun show last weekend. I haven't had a chance to try it out yet. Seems to be very well made with an excellent trigger.
Youtube vids are praising it. I hope they're right.

I like my Colt Trophy Gold Cup. It shoots real well with CCI Mini Mags.

I just ordered a new spring guide and rebound spring from Taylor.com and it should be here in the next few days.

Trigger pull was horrible when new but is now a crisp 4 pounds. I'm going to use this gun for Steel Challenge, having 12 in the mag helps when you shoot as badly as I do.

For a 22lr conversion, and extreme accuracy, I recommend a Marvel conversion... I have others, but the Marvel conversion is.. well... look at the round thing in the photo.. it came with the kit... test fired. basically 5/8 inch at 50 yards

Since no one has answered your question yet, the Walther/Colt 1911-22 series of pistols (Government Model, Rail version, Gold Cup Trophy) came out in 2012. Excellent plinkers.

I seem to remember seeing a Gold Cup Trophy in the case at a big gun shop in Edinboro, PA. I should have bought it back then.
