Was browsing the High Caliber Funshow here is Houston today. Saw a really nice Model 19-2 listed for $850 that had me thinking of dickering for a while, but it was a PPS that really caught my attention. I got to fondle one with the extended magazine and it fits my hands pretty damn good. Price was $379 which seems to be the "sale" cost these days. If it were not for the fact that the M2 version is coming I would have bought it. I prefer the traditional mag release and I have heard the grip and trigger are even better on the M2. If I can find one of those for the same price I will have my carry gun. Anyone here have one of the M2's yet?

I think very highly of the original PPS. The paddle mag release is perfect on a carry gun.
For $379, it is a bargain. I really need to buy a couple more.

I chose the PPS Classic because I like a light on the pistol at night. :)

I've had a PPS M2 for a couple of months and I find the grip, magazine release and trigger, far superior to the PPS Classic. I never did like the idea of the removable backstrap disabling the gun either. I've been able to average 2.5-3 inches group size at 25 yards, off a rest with 147 grain ammo.

I bought my PPS sight unseen as soon as it was introduced and the guys in the largest gun store around here all crowded around to take a look at the new design. The first thousand had this "carbon fibre" finish that has not held up well. Frankly, I don't care if the rest of it blows off the gun - this is a still great pistol.

It is amazingly accurate for its size and perfectly reliable. I think you would be doing yourself a disservice to not at least examine one of the M1 models with those often misunderstood paddle magazine releases. I've never seen the M2, but this would certainly be a hard act to follow.

I had a P22 for a while so I have had some experience with the paddle mag release. We have another show coming up this weekend. I will drop by and see what is out there. Who knows what may come home with me.
