Looks like the Wanenmacher's Gun show in Tulsa is going to happen Nov 14-15th. Curious if any of the "typical suspects" are going. Considering going.

I have wanted to attend the November show but it is always the opening week of pheasant season here in KS. I wouldn't go this year anyway with all the covid mess. I was talking to my wife about "masks and social distancing" at that show and she just laughed.

Maybe in the spring.

Yeah, I'm going to Great Bend Kansas for our annual pheasant, turkey, and quail hunting trip, which I look forward to more than any event of the whole year. Otherwise I would drive the 100 miles to Tulsa.

Husker, a detailed report of our activities is not for public consumption unless you are confining it to the gun show.:) We are known to occasionally brag and gloat.

Looks like I will be going to this one. Any word on if vendors are cancelling? I see they have VIP tickets to go to the front of the line. Website does not say what they cost or how to get them.?? Any suggestions for a first timer?

Many of the Tulsa Metro Gun Shops sell advance tickets (VIP) for the show. Same price ($10/day) as if you were to buy it at the show but you don't have to wait in the long ticket purchase line outside. Just go inside to the ticket takers.

If you bring a firearm to sell at the show you'll have to get in the line to have it checked & tied. It's usually long & extends outside. Not nice when it's cold & windy.

Get there early & plan for a long day of walking. Wear comfortable shoes. You can do the whole show in one day (I usually do the top floor Saturday & the lower Sunday) but Saturday is usually the busiest & that slows things down.

Plenty of parking on the fairgrounds but typically it fills up fast so get there early or expect to walk a way to the entrance.

Sunday you can get thru the whole place faster but some vendors leave after Saturday's show.

If Biden wins I can assure you it'll be super packed.

Tulsa has a mask mandate but no idea how things will go or will be handled otherwise with CV-19 on-going.

I'll reluctantly be sitting it out this year. :(

Ha, yep, let's keep the report to to the show only so none of us are embarrassed! :D Some people tend to have "more fun" that others at these events.

Be careful out there.

My wife and I have the China Virus right now.
I think we’re going to make it, but it has been a pretty serious deal. I might have picked it up at a local gun show a few weeks back.

I have been going every spring for several years. I have never purchased a ticket in advance. I get there early to get a good parking place and get lined up outside. Usually the north side is a smaller line. Before the doors open someone comes down the line and takes your $10 and gives you a ticket so it goes very quickly. As stated, the only hitch is if you are taking something in or you leave your CC ammo there.

There is a special deal that dealers and others can go to Friday. I have a friend who goes to that every year. I can't remember the cost - some tickets are included in vendor fees but they can be purchased separately. What this gives him is the opportunity to shop the entire show on Friday with no crowds. He loves it but it is not cheap as I recall. He always buys something that way.

As for the show, the advice given is good. Food and drink are expensive there, lines long. We eat well before going in and take some snack stuff and drinks. I carry a small back pack that is invaluable. Wear layers of clothes as it is likely cool outside, maybe down right cold and warm inside. The building is HUGE so good walking shoes are a must. There are places to take a sit down rest, they will be packed at eating time. Take a note pad to write down what you find and where. Isles are numbered but it is hard to remember them if you see something. If it is a good deal it may not be there when you get back anyway. If you find something to buy that is too heavy to carry around, vendors are good about putting your name on it so you can pick it up as you head out the door.

I wonder what this year's show will be like with the mask and social distancing rules. Usually it is wall to wall people and bumping into others is the norm. That goes back to my comment that they are enforcing masks to be worn (does that mean over the nose too? :) ) and distancing which would seem to be impossible in that environment.

I love that show and missed not going last year. Oh and get reservations as early as possible as rooms are in short supply. We have stayed at a few crappy places in the past. You can see it in a day but not do justice to it. Yes, some dealers don't arrive on time Sunday and leave early which is an irritant of mine.

Enjoy and let us all know your experience.

I have a chance to go and Tulsa is less than a two hour drive but being crammed in with 100,000 people from all round the U.S. and other countries does not sound like the healthiest thing right now. Wonder if they will drastically limit attendance like they do at sporting events?

Sounds very risky. How could you possibly distance at a gun show, especially the largest one?

I am strongly leaning towards not going this November. An enclosed space with thousands of people in it from all over the country, a large percentage of whom I expect will not be wearing masks (regardless of Wanenmacher's requirements), with "social distancing" essentially impossible. And it's not like at a theater or sporting event where you might be physically close to just a few people - anyone who walks the whole show as I do will be passing through the miasma of exhalations of thousands, perhaps tens of thousands of people, some number of whom will almost certainly be COVID positive, even if asymptomatic.

I would place attending in the category of risky behavior. Kind of like having unprotected sex in a San Francisco bath house in the 1980s. Sure, you might get by with it - but you might not. Certainly someone is going to come back from the Tulsa show with COVID. It might be you. People are contracting the disease just from everyday behavior, as anecdotally related here: Exposed to Covid

I guess I'm gonna have to stand on line with the peasants this weekend. My usual dealer badge hookup isn't coming this weekend. He always goes in the spring, 'cause fall is deer season. At least Tulsa weather looks pretty good for Saturday and Sunday . . .

What is the proportion of private sellers at this show?
