Well worth seeing for any fan of classic 1950's westerns. Henry Fonda, Anthony Quinn, Richard Widmark & a ton of great character actors in an unusual psychological western with deep characterizations that have real motivations & conflicts.

If you have seen 'Tombstone' you will notice a lot of similarities. However this film is also it's own in many ways, Highly recommended. This is probably the earliest of Fonda's not so good guys roles. A precursor to 'Frank' in 'Once upon a Time in the West'.

All actors do stellar work with a screen play that is complex & leaves you guessing. You even get Deforest Kelley as a bad cowboy with an attitude. Anyone see it?

"Warlock" is a good one; haven't seen it in a long time. Hard to beat a cast like that. However, I think it was easily a much better film than "Once Upon A Time In The West". That one was about as bad as a Tarantino movie.

I think Tombstone was a very good film but not a memorable one in the way "Warlock" was. Opinions vary I suppose.

Have not seen it in many, many moons. Will have to watch for it.

Just saw it on YouTube. Pretty good Western, although the ending could have been better.

Fine show

Clay was a noir kind of guy, frank was bad, more mind games than usual, lot of holes though, at least the town grew some at the end, remember high noon? Sad commentary there. I liked widmark his westerns were decent, Quinn was a bad guy to the you need me end. Once upon a time in the west was good, great story line, I live for westerns, I guess thats why I have an SSA with faux ivory grips and a old style holster rig.

You're confusing Anthony Quayle with Anthony Quinn. Both were excellent actors, but Quayle was also a British war hero who led guerillas against German troops in the Med., I think on Crete.

I believe he's in, Lawrence of Arabia. Quinn played the Greek colonel in, The Guns of Navarone.

Who would throw gold handled colts in the dirt.
.
Well...Jane Fonda's father. Ha,ha. Seriously, that bugged me about that scene.

Did you notice that only Colts were mentioned, and only SAA's?

I prefer wooden grips, but admire fancy SAA's with gold or Tiffany grips as art.

Anthony Quinn was in Lawrence of Arabia: he played Auda Abu Tayi.

Thanx

Hey, it wuz late, I wuz off my meds, I get mixed up easy, my mind is not what it used to be, I wuz distracted, I'm sorry, all of the above.

Funny you mention navarone, that is a favorite, and an A list of actors with both Quinn and Quayle are both in it.

Me too.

I so love wood also, but the stampede had black plastic on it and because they are a single fit and you can't buy ivory ( legally) I went to truivory for a set of antiqued faux, I love them and I had them made a little fatter for my hand.

Quinn also played Lawrence's best Arab friend in "Lawrence of Arabia"

He played Abu whoever. I think Omar Sharif was more his best friend. Prince Ali? Both Peter O'Toole - Lawrence- and Sharif were in, The Night of the Generals, a WW II murder mystery from the German side. Highly recommended.
