Admin Edit-
I'm disappointed.
I've deleted many off-topic posts.
The topic of this thread is Nazi daggers.

Collecting Nazi firearms, daggers, helmets, etc is a legitimate collecting field. As such, members can expect the opportunity to discuss the items without being hammered about the numerous evils committed by the Nazis.

Think about it for a second-
Can I collect US Cavalry items?
What about that wounded Knee thing and the suppression of Native Americans in general?
What about riding down our own WW I Vets? THAT was a glorious moment, wasn't it? (if you don't know history, read about the Bonus Marchers)

Medieval arms and armor?
I've heard those Crusaders slaughtered a bunch of folks they didn't really need to. (ate some, too)

Cossack swords and S&W Russian Models?
Didn't they ride the peasants down when the tsar was perturbed?

Roman arms and items?
Didn't they believe in slavery, crucify common criminals and political dissidents, and make dudes fight to the death for entertainment?

Evil Black Rifles?
Don't they make normal folks want to maim and kill?

When Göring surrendered, he was wearing an S&W 38 M&P.
Lee harvey Oswald killed a cop with an S&W M&P.
Is it OK if I still like M&P's?

My Advice-
Don't be the next member to post here about anything but German daggers. ;)

And for the record-
NO, I am not a Nazi.

Here is a Hitler Youth knife with a few(mostly German DSM34) 22 trainers.

I don't have an issue with my Nazi items..My dad captured them during WWII and brought them home...Here is a pic of a Police parade Bayonet..

While the Nazis were crazy and evil, they did have lot of different guns and knives. Most were brought back by our vets, which were hardly sympathetic to that cause. Here is a Luftwaffe dagger and an Astra 300

Oh boo hoo on those that belive a thread like this is not a good one. I will however say that I was once told by an expert in this field that its best to never use the word "Nazi" when referring to them as that word immediately puts some people on the defensive. He told me to always refer to such items as German Army W.W. II era memorabilia instead. I have a large collection of this type item and its not as though I agree with what that crazed political party did - its about the historical significance of the times along with the beauty of design. You could buy three or four S&W revolvers for the price of one good SS or SA dagger and I'd bet money most gun collectors would love to have a top notch Luger in their collection.

Nice dagger OP. Here's one my father-in-law brought back with him.

some of those daggers look a lot like boy scout knives i remember as a boy

My understanding is, in the case of Hitler youth knifes, the Germans continued to make the knife after the war but with a different emblem in place of the swastika. They were then called boy scout knives.

I understand some of that stuff is fake to start with.

I see "replica" (fake) WWII German daggers for sale on BudK. I am pretty sure they make replica stahlhelms (helmets). Bikers have loved German WWI and WWII helmets for years. I would venture a guess that pretty much anything of cash value in that era is being reproduced. (Probably in China).

Sir ~ You're right but there is no guessing about it, everything from that era is faked or reproduced especially the items that are highly sought after. The trick is to learn the difference between the two - most fakers usually mess up somewhere in reproduction. And by the way, the only "bikers" that wear that sort of helmet are termed RUBS, aka Rich Urban BikerS. They don't have a clue about the true biker lifestyle :D !

"Those who choose to forget the past are doomed to repeat it".

If you don't like the subject matter or "words" of a thread feel free to ignore it and move along.

Those non PC realists among us like to remember we WON, kicked and killed their behinds after all the atrocities they
wrought.

To forget would be to erase our Fathers and Grandfathers sacrifice and service.

These are the spoils of WAR.

Many of the fakes can be ID'd easily. But some are so good I doubt if Hitler could tell the difference.

It is simple it is a part of our history. I hate the Nazi history. But I do love craftmanship. Those daggers if real are great crafmanship. I hate what they are stand for. We shall never forgett. But I do think that we have to take care of those items to. The items can't help it that they where once on the very, very wrong side. But, they are still great craftmanship.

vrichard, glad to see your gravilty knife. My grandfather brought one back after he went to post war Germany for Ordnance. Looks like yours is blue in the pic, mine is nickel. He carried it in his tackle box. It hasn't been used much since 1965, but it's still like a razor from the last time he sharpened it.
To the mods, I want to apologize for my off topic post that was one of the ones deleted. I will strive to do better.

That's very true sir and I'm glad you mentioned it. One short article I've read states that after the war, many of these knives were shipped to the United States that had mainly been made from surplus parts and the swastika emblem on the handle was replaced with a fleur-de-lis emblem which is very similar to that used by the Boy Scouts. There are also quite a few originals out there that simply had the diamond shaped swastika emblem removed from the handle which is a sign that the greatest majority of people wanted nothing to do with the fallen and depraved NSDAP. Some of them could simply mean that the original emblem "fell out"!

OP ~ Would you care to show a few more pictures of that SS dagger outside its scabbard? Is there a makers mark on the blade?
