When I was young, Weatherby always meant bolt action big game firearms.

My wife wants a shotgun for Christmas.

She goes strictly on looks. It has to be "pretty".

She likes the PA-08 Upland Youth. Anyone have any experience with these?

How do they compare with Remington and Winchester in regards to fit and finish and quality?

I recently bought my wife a Weatherby SA-459 in 20 gauge for her birthday. The fit and finish is good, not in any way exceptional. In this price range, you get what you pay for...

My wife and I both shoot Winchester 1300 pump featherweights for upland. 22 inch barrel, winchokes. Ours are 12ga. , but it can be found in 20ga. as well. I have shot many grouse and pheasants with it. They have extremely nice wood, light, and recoil is very manageable. It can also be found with the straight english stock..very reasonable on the pocket book. Worth a look..

Yes indeed. I had a 1300 20 with a damaged barrel-- the rear piece with the fingers. Contacted GUN PARTS looking for the piece- they didn't have, but sent me a barrel with a 'WIN-CHOKE 'on it-- no charge, not even for shipping. :D Stock is marked SKEET. :)

I recently purchased a 28 gauge sa-08 (semi-auto) Weatherby. Only have about 200 rounds through it, but I like the gun very much. Seems to be well made and finished. It is not a $2000 Beretta but I only paid $650 for it. Shot a 22 on the trap range with it. Haven't needed it, but Weatherby's service reputation was a deciding factor on the purchase.

Those are very nice.

We are going to shoot skeet this weekend. (Getting ready for Dove season).

I will take my Winchester Model 12 (my grandfathers) she will probably shoot my single shot .20

I like the Browning BPS as well.

Still plenty of time to look.

Thanks for the responses and great looking scatter guns.

I have had a couple of BPS's and they are also fine guns..The bottom eject is nice..they can be a bugger to pull apart and clean..I figure any gun a guy can get his lady to shoot and hunt with is a good one!

A search shows the shotgun is made in Turkey. It could be a hit or miss but more hit I believe; Weatherby wouldn't put out a shotty product. The Orion a few years back was made in Japan by SKB, the same model as the SKB 500. I own a SKB 585 and its a good solid shotgun.
