I was living in Belgium in the early 80's. I thought buying a hamburger that costs a little more might be a better grade. Wrong, turns out horse meat is a little more expensive than beef! My mother and her family came over from Scotland. For my birthday I got Steak and Kidney pie. I actually loved it.

I dont know why, but had a weird remembering....was in the Azores one day, friend and i went into cafe, ordered a steak,,, and fries,,,,it tasted good but sure as hell was not beef,,,was too stupid to ask what it was...now that i think of it,,,i do not want too know

I learned in the "lower" Americas that monkey if prepped right wasnt bad, and Iquana was to die for.

My first wife's cooking could have rivaled any of those recipe's? Kept me thin for years afterwards though!

I've had raw horsemeat in Japan. Really tasty, actually.
It had a different pattern - kind of more like curly maple rather than the straight muscles of beef.
They told me it was beef. Then, among themselves in Japanese, they said Kumamoto beef. Kumamoto is famous for horses.
In Beijing recently, I had chicken soup, complete with an intact rooster head and a leg and foot. I ate the soup, but declined the head and foot.
Also in Japan, I had what was alleged to be whale meat. All I can say is "save the whales". It was kind of like chewy fat.
Iranian food has normal ingredients combined in weird ways. They like things a bit sour, so they use smoked lemons.
I really like fesenjan, which is made with pomegranate juice, ground walnuts, and generally some kind of meat. But it's a weird combination of ingredients.

Back in the early fifties when I was a little guy, my mom made me peanutbutter and raisin sandwiches to take to school in my Roy Rogers lunch box. Have`nt had one in alot of years, but wish my mom was here to make --JUST ONE MORE.

Some of you make eating horsemeat sound like a foreign thing. During WWII just about all the meat you could buy was horsemeat. Once upon a time I wish I hadn't asked what the main course was that I just finished - he was Korean and couldn't speak English so he barked.
