Weird J Frame Hammer

I am putting this in this section because the hammer has the post 1962 fork and pin type hammer spring rod.

This extended, wide hammer spur has me scratching my head, so to speak. The checkering does not look factory to me, but that is just a guess on my part.

Can anyone ID this hammer for me. I had it in a parts drawer with several other J frame hammers. Shown with another J hammer.

That's a homemade spur that's been welded on.

I’m with Protocall. Crude checkering and looks like slag holes in the spur.
Not a factory or commercial offering.
It could still work well.

Just for laughs I thought I would install it on a Bodyguard so I could work it double action a little easier.

Custom fabricated, that's a nice term for that hammer. Someone must have really wanted a target hammer on their J-frame.

That would really ruin a snag free draw. LOL

A Bodyguard hammer in a Chiefs Special really improves its snag free draw and still easy to cock; easier than in the Bodyguard.

This guy was not named Bubba, but he went to the same school of gun smithing. The difference is, he actually showed up for a couple of classes. It’s a shame he skipped checkering day. (Or did he go to skip line checkering class?). Good idea, but only fair execution, IMO.
