Probably over paid, but I ended up getting a little Beretta 950 in .22 Short off auction. This is one of the "sort of" hard to find models with the extended barrel that's said to be particularly useful for putting a suppressor on.

With 2 spare mags and 1000rds of ammo, it came out to 275 plus shipping/FFL fees. Eh. I figured that was about 100 bucks or so worth or ammo and that the mags were worth about 20 bucks per, making it a roughly 135 for the gun itself.

If I end up staying in VA, I'll put a can on it eventually.

I'd rather have a Beretta over a Lorcin, Raven or other cheap .22 any day.

Nice gun. Mine has ugly black plastic grips. Chewed a thumb one day trying to fire it two-handed. The rear of the slide is sharp. Shot two sparrows out of trees with it, so it's accurate. I've finished off a lot of shotgun-hit grackles, rabbits and squirrels with it. It doesn't blow a squirrels eyeballs clear out of its head like a Kit Gun will. Had it throw a HOT cartridge case down the back of my frozen neck while hunting one cold winters day. I thought I'd shot myself.

The thing is LOUD up close. One day I volunteered to show some of the boys at work how loud it was, and they were almost cartoon-like the way they were shaking their heads and turning away. You fire it in the dark and the bad guys will think you have a magnum.

Of all my guns, that one was the one I had in my boot when three ethnic types followed my family down 3 dark blocks to the car (It was light and cheery when we parked). All I had to do was pull it out of my boot, and they went high-stepping the other way.
