Well, this sucks! Last minute Christmas change.

My neighbor friend, all vexed up and with booster shot tested positive for covid.
Although no symptoms, went to doctor for meds. Doctor tested again, test was negative. Has now been tested for the forth time. Test is negative.
Must be some false positives out there with the various test kits.
Four days, four test, last three were negative .

Some of the tests have a 50% or better false positive rate. Also some new data to suggest asymptomatic people are not spreading the germ. The whole thing is a big mess and I'm at the point where I don't believe the numbers or information they are putting out. Don't get me started on the placebo mask wearing.

FWIW, the Covid That Stole Christmas visited here. Fully vaccinated, had the booster, next day had symptoms. Two days later, got the call from the office about multiple reports in sick. Positive PCR results late Wed. Bad news: Holiday trips cancelled. Good news: can watch all the Hallmark Xmas movies I can stand… a number somewhere south of one.

A First World problem, to be sure. And FL no longer provides daily Covid stats. Makes one wonder about the real transmission rate.

Do a zoom, ring or skype type call.. Better safe than sorry....

My in laws have long been lecturing us dogmatically on COVID precautions, family holiday party was cancelled due to almost all of them being infected. Well, we had Thanksgiving.

My brother is going through this now with his daughter catching Covid. We had this happen last year at Christmas (before any vaccines). My daughter and granddaughter both had Covid. We did a zoom Christmas. Not ideal but flexibility is the name of the game.

In my job, we are flooded by tourists and school kids. I've met people from all 50 states, and at least over 50 countries over the years. Not so much since Covid started. We closed the building and worked from home for nearly six months over two closures in 2020.

I had my two Moderna shots early on. Got my booster six weeks ago, just as Omicron was starting up. Everyone at work has at least two shots, and most have boosters.

Last week, a good friend died of Covid complications after two shots and a booster, but he had other health problems. I'm 71, and it scares me that some people act like the vaccine is an evil thing. If so, why did we get Polio, Measles, Mumps, Flu, Dyptheria, Chickenpox, and many others as regular vaccines as children? Prevented a lot of people from dying.

Our son just came down with it, had plans to fly down to Dominican Republic after Christmas, all down the drain now. His partner at work got it, then his wife and kid but STILL came to work,Duh- Uh……..

People who think vaccines don't work should try living in an iron lung for a while. Vaccines aren't perfect, but they keep you alive.

IIRC those older vaccines were the result of much more careful and thorough and tested research. These newer ones, people seem to think like it's an episode of Star Trek.

Work-itis has spread more disease, killed more people, and reduced productivity far more than most seem ready to admit.

I'm not saying it's evil. I'm not even saying it doesn't work but this vaccine is completely different those others. It is a genetically modified germ and this is the first time it is being used on a large scale. I held my breath and got inoculated but remember, the same government that is mandating that we get shots is the same one that told us agent orange was safe.

How about we keep this thread about changed holiday plans rather than going into the vax-anti-vax rabbit hole again. I have cancelled my holiday gathering due to a confirmed Covid exposure among family members after consulting with them. I am older and immune compromised so it seems prudent. I worked many times on Christmas so not a big deal for me. We will get together next weekend and enjoy each other's company. A Merry Christmas and safe holiday to all!

Things could be worse. My daughter felt numbness all down her left side
on the 22nd, so she went to ER to get checked out. After a multitude of
tests it was determined that her Carotid Artery was 95% blocked. She
had a procedure the following day, that I guess is kinda like the Roto
Rooter. Her Doc told me they cleaned it out and it went well.
Well, I had ordered a take out dinner for Christmas Eve. She won't be
dismissed until at least Monday. I had a grandson come and help me
eat the dinner.

Many people up above this post have said things like "it could be worse." Think about that. We enjoyed our usual get-together last night over at my BIL's house. It was a good time, no politics, good food, conversation, etc. For us today it's just me, wife, & daughter (The youngest of all the kids last night at a month & a half under 21.) A few people I know have had cancelled plans this year, but, it could be worse. Remember that; and for those of us that celebrate Christmas, have a great one! And for the rest of the Forum, you also have a wonderful weekend.
Not to steal a joke from Jeff Foxworthy, but I will; if you spend Christmas sighting in your gifts, you just might be a member of this S&W Forum!
