Wendy's Fish Sandwich - Cremation Special

A couple of things. First, I often see a commercial for Applebees offering a hamburger combo of sorts for $10.99. I believe it includes the burger, fries, drink, and unlimited chips and salsa. In the commercial, they talk about the current high price of fast food and poor quality. Second, kinda curious about DoorDash. Fast food is not good all the time, but I gotta imagine that it's never good when it's "old" or cold. Usually when I eat it, I eat it there while it's at its freshest and hottest. Sometimes I bring it home, and it isn't near as good because it is colder. I would guess that DoorDash picks up multiple orders before making delivery. How is your food once delivered?

I meet a friend for coffee at McDs. They have 3 parking spots reserved for delivery drivers. Instead of using these the drivers park crossways across the handicap spaces. Sounds like they really care about getting your food to you hot. It certainly gets me hot.

I don't eat fast food, but this brings back a lot of memories.

My mom's fish sandwich of choice was Frisch's Big Boy. That was true for years until one year when she suffered what I have to assume was food poisoning.

For those on the forum familiar with Dave Thomas and his family, you might know this story. I grew up in rural Ohio. My cousin was showing lambs at the state fair and her and lamb won Grand Champion. At the auction of champions, Mr. Thomas purchased the lamb for a significant amount. My cousin started crying when it was time for the lamb to go on its way, and Mr. Thomas agreed to pay for the lamb and let her keep it.

My two favorites are the beer-battered fish hoagie from LaRosa's and the fish sandwich from Frisch's. We keep a jar of Frisch's tartar sauce in the fridge at all times.

STEAK AND SHAKE:
1. double steak burger with mustard, onion, and pickle only
2. fries
3. cherry coke
I used to LOVE going to Steak N Shake! Too bad we don't have any of them out west.
But, IMO, you're missing the boat to get a Cherry Coke instead of one of their shakes! You can get Cherry Coke anywhere, but their shakes are something special (or at least used to be).

Wendy's used to be the gold standard of fast food burger joints.

When founder Dave Thomas died in 2002, his family cashed out and the company was bought by investors. It crapped out immediately after it was sold, and its food has been subpar for years. The company was been bought and sold numerous times since.

When they discontinued the SuperBar in 1998, I knew Dave Thomas had checked out of running the business and the bean counters had taken over (bad pun). The few times I've visited various locations in the past 25 years, the food quality ranged from lackluster to gross.

If I want a fried fish sandwich, I'll go to a local business.

Well, I went to Arby's today for lunch. I specifically wanted their Fish sandwich. I had seen it advertised for $6.99 including large curly fries and large drink. When I was looking over the menu for that, I didn't see it! In fact, a fish sandwich combo was $10+! Finally I noticed a small black chalkboard on the counter advertising their "Crispy Sandwich Special" for $6.99!:D:D I was there about 1pm and they cooked my fish and fries while I waited which I was happy about knowing they would be fresh and hot. I must say everything was very tasty! I have always liked their curly fries, and potato cakes for that matter. The fish was on one of those slightly sweet Hawaiian buns. For $6.99 plus tax, it was a good deal. If I had to pay the regular price of $10+, I don't know if I would say that.
