I haven't been getting enough sleep because I stay up too late watching movies. That causes me to take some daytime naps, a few intentional but most are not.
Around 4 PM yesterday I took an unintentional. I woke up at 6:35PM feeling as if I had spent the night in my chair Evidently I wasn't fully awake, because I thought it was 6:35 AM and I thought that the light that I could see coming through the blinds was early morning light and that I had actually spent the night in my chair. I decided that it was too early to get up so I put my pj's on and got in bed and went back to sleep until about what is really 10 PM when my daughter called me. Then the light came on. My daughter said you sound funny, are you alright? I told her that I was now and I would explain later. She really wanted an explanation then but I had to get my head on straight. I went back to sleep until about 3 AM
I had intended to eat supper about 5 PM but had slept through it. I was hungry but not for grits or cereal and there were no breakfast places open that I wanted to go to that time of night so I stayed hungry until Burger King opened at about 7:15 AM. Good coffee, taters and breakfast sandwiches.
Tonight I am setting the alarm on my phone for 11 PM with the second alarm at 11:05 and getting my fanny in bed. I can't handle anymore time mix ups. I am too old for 2 or 3am bedtimes. I have to reform.

Brother,
You are not the only nut in this tree.
Been there, done that.
Best,
Gary

Thanks for sharing that tale, ancient-one. That must be what it's like to have the schedule my old neighbors had. He was a firefighter and she was an airlift flight nurse. Today I came home from the Bullseye match and crashed in my easy chair. Out in the sun, setting up, shooting, tearing down and BS'ing. The BS'ing may have tired me out the most. Then a late lunch at Burger King. It was a good day, but it wiped me out. Still, I can't begin to compete with your tale! I wish you happy circadian rhythm!

I'll be 63yoa next week (so not that old yet) and fully retired almost 2 years ago due to some health issues. I live alone so there are no real demands on my sleeping/awakening times other than "my boys" and their demands. I have always been a "night owl," normally going to bed around 1:30-3:30am and then sleeping until around 9:00-9:30am when the cats force me to get up and feed them.
For the past year or so I have found myself taking naps sometime during the day and I'm talking falling into a deep, deep, sleep/naps in my recliner where I feel like I am having to fight my way out of a very deep well to wake up. It is a very weird sensation to fight myself to wake up and to get my bearings again.
I normally don't have any problem sleeping through the night except for the routine trips to the bathroom or the nights when I have vivid dreams/nightmares from my previous occupation. The only sleep aid that I use is 10mg of Melatonin which I have used for many years with no real negative side effects.

I have an old blokes watch, a Timex (TM) with a back light. It gives me Day Month and time in 24 hour format. I can orient myself time wise any time.

Who notes for the young, a watch is a device worn, which gives you some idea of what time it is, without looking at your phone.

I quit wearing a watch 8 years ago when I retired. It is either dark or light the only times that really matter. I have always enjoyed a nap and these days much more so. About 6 weeks ago i came down with severe sciatica. Among the many pills prescribed is one to help sleep. Boy those things are dynamite. I have done some industrial grade napping since starting those.
I have never been on a regular time schedule. I am always up 4-5 am every day and cannot remember when i was not on that schedule.

If left to my own schedule I would sleep all day and stay awake all night. Can’t shut down my mind after dark for some reason. Drugs make me dream strange things so I don’t use any. Good luck changing your schedule.n

A few weeks ago I went to sleep about 4PM and woke up in a couple of hours and it took several minutes to figure out it wasn't the next morning. I've never done that before. That's a weird feeling.
The thing I like best about not having a job is that I can eat when I'm hungry and sleep when sleepy and not worry about what the clock says. I'm the happiest kid in the neighborhood. Larry
