Hello
I just purchased a shield and I was checking to see what the best grips out there for the shield. I am looking at the N82 tactical holsters. Any suggestions or opinions would be appreciated. Your welcome to post pics.

Grip or holster?

I use n82. Slower draw but alot more comfortable. Fine with me

Grips are a personal choice, with the Shield you can have the frame textured (by someone who knows what they're doing!) or using a textured wrap by one of a few different companies.

I've been very happy with the Talon rubberized wrap on mine. Not as grippy as the "skateboard" type but it doesn't grab my covering shirt either.

Either version of the Talon grip would be very good. The rubber grip is good as it is, while the granulate tends to be very sharp and aggressive. The granulate can be toned down by lightly sanding it to take some of the edge off. Here's my Shield with a Talon granulate, trimmed to cover only the front and rear of the grip.

Here it is in a Sticky holster with the Talon granulates. I don't have a pic of it with the rubber Talons, but suffice it say they are very comfortable and work well.

I've found the Sticky or Remora holsters to be inexpensive, easy to use, very adaptable, as well as very comfortable. At $25 each, they are well worth a look.

Good Luck and good shooting. :D

On the grips, it depends on what you're needs are. If the grip size is fine, and you just want a grippier grip, then I'd recommend the Talons. I went with rubberized, just seems better for me than the granulate, which is like skateboard tape.
If want something that fills your palm a little bit, then the Pachmayr grip glove is pretty good. It's really soft rubber, and gives a little cushion.
Good luck.

Me Too/ N82

Hello

I have the N82 Pro model. Its my spring (like now), summer and early fall holster here in southern Arizona where T-Shirt and shorts is near formal wear. It keeps the pistol from touching my skin.
Once I'm back to a T-underwear shirt in late fall I'm back to my
IWB Comp-Tac Neutral carry holster.
Both are very comfortable. My one negative about the N82 is the
required need to sort of twist the pistol inward on the draw for
the trigger guard to clear that indentation.
There's a lot of fine holster selections if you're wearing some thing
that keeps the grip between your skin and that grip.
OWB__ Comp-Tac Minotaur. I've actually wore it with a short sleeve sport shirt or such and it concealed well. Its a quick on and
off holster as well.
Again, there's a great selection of fine holsters available.

The Talon granular grips were way too sticky in the N82 Pro holster for me. It actually made it hard to draw the gun. Great grips however. If you go with the N82 holster, try the rubber Talons first.

I really wanted to like the N82 holster, but I just couldn't. It's very thick -- it's got a layer of Kydex/plastic, then the width of the gun, then a very thick foam between the gun and your body. What appeared to be comfortable to me in pictures turned out to be very bulky. It was like strapping on a whole rig just to carry something as small as the Shield. I figured if I was going to go to that sort of bulk, I might as well carry a double stack.

My IWB holster is a PJ Holster. It's formed from one sheet of Kydex, and it's super thin. Although it's just the hard Kydex against your body, I found it much more comfortable than the much larger N82 holster. It's a very simple and high quality holster.

I love my n82 pro holster. I have it for my 9c. Looking at getting another for my Sig 938.

I haven't had much luck with the Talon rubber grips. On all 3 of my pistols, even following more "strict" installation suggestions from Talon, they all peeled off. I gave up on them, but I wonder if I wouldn't have to grip the granular as much, thus not rubbing off? I also did not enjoy the Pachmayr. They felt great but moved during serious shooting - they often moved down towards bottom of grip thus getting in the way when quickly inserting a new magazine. I've heard people put the granular (or skate-board tape) on first, then the Pachmayr to alleviate the slipping, but I haven't tried yet. Also, Hogue makes a slip on grip similar to Pachmayr that more people seem to like.

I went with An Alien Gear IWB, Have them for all my carry guns.
Put the Talon rubberized grips, and added A Dawson FO front sight.

Really likeing this little gun

I have rubberized Talon grips on mine but instead of wrapping the magazine pinky rest with the wraps I cut it in half and squared it off then stuck one half on each side of the slide serrations.

I used a hair dryer to soften them up and sink into the grooves of the slide a bit. Looks fine and makes for a better grip on the slide in my opinion.

The talon grips are really cool however after some use mine started peeling off and I just didnt want to mess with it anymore so I bought a Pachmayr slip on rubber grip. I have them on both my BG 380 & shield 9.

Upside down?

Hey Capt, just wondering if you put the grips on upside down for a reason? I have the same grip and had problems with it sliding down and interfering with the mags when installed "right side up."

Grips and holsters are pretty personal and can very a lot by your needs, body, etc. Most folks here like wood grips on revolvers; I loathe them. Holsters can vary so much by body shape, lifestyle, etc., that I know a lot of folks with many holsters they tried and dumped, myself included.
