Just curious if any of you boys have found a good use for the space inside the hollow buffer tube. It is accessable through the buttstock and has a black S&W stamped cap on it and is about 3/4'' diameter and 6'' deep. Tried using it to hold extra batteries for my laser and flashlight, but did not like the rattle. If I was a smoking man I'd keep a good cigar in there!

you might have enough room to wrap something insulating around the batteries so they don't rattle?

Pray tell, how does one access this secret compartment? I purchased, but haven't received my 15-22 yet, darn 10 day waiting period...

There is a small black plug on the back of the buttstock. It is a "secret" because S&W did not include anything about it in the owners manual.

I bet you are counting the days until your waiting period is over but it is worth the wait. I've been shooting mine daily for 6 months and am still loving every minute of it.

TICK...TICK...TICK... until October 12th. Then it's off to the range with the rest of the arsenal. I'll break the 15-22 down and clean the barrel with a bore snake and clean/lube the bolt assembly before firing it. I've got some CCI 40gr LRN, Federal 550 bulk plated HP (red box), Federal 525 bulk plated HP (blue box) and some Federal Lightning 40 gr LRN (from WM) to try out. I'll be checking groupings with each ammo type, and fully expect all of it to function flawlessly.

............and the cap for the "secret" storage easily comes off and goes missing...... thats why i replaced my stock with magpul ctr.

In BC, Canada...........the waiting period is 3 - 5 days. Both my 1522 & Ruger 22/45, I only waited 2 days and picked them up. The waiting time sucks, but its worth the wait. I use CCI mini mags 36g copper plated hollow point. About 1.5" groupings at 25 yards and 2.5" groupings at 50 yards.

I love a good cigar now and then... Now I'm gonna go home and tuck one away in that secret place :) Thanks for the idea!

Now what to put in the two compartments of the CCA stock saddle.?

The super-secret storage space is the perfect size for a boresnake :D

brilliant! I noticed after washing mine and putting it back in the retail package that it built up a ton of moisture, even though i hand dried and blow-dried the thing. I wonder if it would do the same thing inside the stock

I keep a fresh change of air in there.... Never know when you might be wading through the water, hiding from the Zombies, and might need a breath :)

The flashlight on my fore grip requires three AAA batteries. I wrap the cleaning cloth that came with the scope around them and stick them in there.

I keep a exotac nano striker, a few katadyn purification tabs, dental floss, a few large eye sewing needles and pack it tight with 550 cord. I rely on the 15-22 as my bug out bag companion. The idea is to out live everyone that said I was paranoid;)
