Can anyone tell what these will fit? I tried them on a k-frame square butt model 19. They overhang the front and back significantly (like maybe 1/16").

Stamped number on back is 272617

Thanks.

They are N frame stocks and should fit any square butt N frame after WWII up until the change to everything being the same size. Someone will be along soon to talk about the changes from black washers to silver washers to no washers and the dates of each change.

I pulled a set of N and K frame stocks out of the pile and measured them. The K frame stocks are 3/16"-ish smaller at the base.

Here's some visual info...

As Bill noted they are likely from a M58 as these are PC (Plain Clothes) grips due to the rounded bottom edge.

As Bill pointed out, they most likely came on a Model 58 .41 Military & Police revolver. That is because they are the PC style and very few N frames came with that style Magna stocks. The only other option that comes to mind is the Model 520, which is basically a Highway Patrolman with fixed sights. That is much less likely than a Model 58.

True, but I cannot recall hearing about or seeing a model 520 (model of 1980) with numbered stocks.
All the ones I've had were with numbered stocks, but only one of the guns had matching numbers...I recall hearing an explanation for that once, but the details escape my fading memory...:o...Ben

When the NYSP cancelled the project for another S&W product, the factory just slapped grips on the guns and shipped them out ostensibly for revenue purposes (they needed the money ??). I've owned 3 or 4 of the M520's and have seen others in gun shops but never found one with matching grip s/n's.

Yes, that is what I read elsewhere...I apparently got lucky on the one gun I had with matching numbers...Why didn't I keep that one?......Ben
