Just did a quick walk through of the Fort Worth Gun Show and to see if I could snag something early on. I found these grips in junk box.....what to I have? I am thinking an N frame but won't know until I try them on when I get home later today, still a lot of looking or do. Thanks.
Thanks. I had no idea they were that old. No markings anywhere on them so wasn't sure. I know most folks are sick of over priced gun shows but on occasion one does find a nice deal. These were just a sawbuck and even if I don't have a gun they fit I couldn't just leave them lying there.
I suspect from the proportions they are N frame Targets, from anytime in the mid-1950s to the mid-late 1960s. Same time range if I am wrong and they are K frame .
I have not tried these yet on my 624, 27 or 29 but here they are all oiled up. If they are a k frame I do have a model 19-3 I can try them on too. What might be the value of these?
I tried these on my 624 and 19 and though they fit okay on the 19 there was a gap on the backstrap and they just did not fit like they were made for the k frame. They fit more appropriately on the 624 so I suspect that these are N frame grips. Since I already have some nice grips on the 624 and had already put on a set of Eagle grips on my 29 I guess I will just hang on to these for perhaps another N frame.....been looking at a Model 25-9 that has some really ugly hogue wood grips......hummmm
Sadly though that was all I found at the Fort Worth gun show this weekend. It paid to get there early on Satuday and move through the place at a fast pace to see anything that might catch your attention. These were in a box with other grips and stuff with a sticker asking 15 bucks. I offered 10 and moved on my way. To be fair they really looked like **** with some gunk on them. I really thought I would find some other things but sadly nothing else presented. There is always next week at the Dallas Market Hall gun show.
