For the Sigma especially but would like to here for the SD too. I'm in need of some. Haven't been in the market for SD ammo in the last 10 years or so.

Federal HST, Speer Gold Dot, Winchester Ranger, Remington Golden Saber, are some excellent choices for Self Defense ammo in most pistols.

I tried a number of different brands. I actually try and buy a box of something new every time I'm in a gun store so I can try it out. Everything I've shot works fine.

Right now I keep Corbon DPX 115 +p in my FS 9. I've got a couple of boxes of Federal HST to try which I've researched and found to have good reviews.

I have to say though that the corbon cycles well, shoots well, no difference in felt recoil, good barrier penetration, has a good track record and packs a heck of a wallop. It's an all copper solid bullet. It will stay there till something else knocks it out of my mags ;)

I carry bonded winchester ranger t series in my handguns

I have used federal hst and speer gold dot before. All 3 work very well fo sd ammo

Ammo

I have been working part time at a gunstore for a few years and here are my observations on the numerous types of HD and SD ammo. I will keep it brief

The biggest seller is the Hornady XTP or Critical Duty, I like the latter for carry.
9 mm has been one the toughest rounds to get up here in this state over the last year. Currently it is in abundance finally.

IMHO I do not want to get hit by any of it carry or range ammo. I have carried regular range rounds when I didn't have the HD rounds and I still had a piece of mind that i had as much if not more than them.

Just my opinion

Tx Pete

I have a couple different i use, when i am out i will use Hornady XTP but if i am at home i use Nosler. Don't ask me why, i just do.

I have a SD9VE and have Hornady Critical Duty 135gr. in the primary mag. My spare mag is filled with Winchester PDX1 124gr. +P. I test fired both and they work fine.

For me, 1 mag is filled with Federal HST, and the second has Hornady XTP... That is for my SD9VE....

In my other 9mm, I have both mags filled with PMC Starfire...

In my 45, I have 3 9 round mags... One loaded with PMC Starfire, onw filled with CorBon, and the third has Hornady Critical Duty...

I carry 3 with win ranger t series. I dont see a need to carry more than one kind of sd ammo with me. Win ranger is used by many police departments. Heck even the box i got said law enforcement ammunition on it

Loaded ammunition from various manufactures such as Cor-Bon, Black Hills, Federal etc. that use Barnes TAC-XP bullets are all good.

Since there are no magic bullets (yet) and there's not a nickles worth of difference in the street performance of today's premium jacketed hollow points, I carry whatever 9mm ammo is available/on sale.

Currently my S&W SD9VE's and all my other 9 mm guns, are stoked with either Hornady's critical defense ammo or Federal's Hydra Shoks; simply because that's what Academy Sports & Wally World had on their shelves.

They are equally reliable & accurate.

Just posting a pic of my carry ammo's expansion. Thats the main reason i carry it. If people were wondering about a good carry ammo. That pic speaks for itself.

The expansion is fine but what about penetration? Are you satisfied with only 10.5"?

The one of the left looks like it does extensive tissue damages and why it only penetrate 10.5"

I sure wouldn't want to be hit with that bugger.
