Our club has matches that shoot steel plates out to 300 yds. What iron sights, not optical, can I get to accomodate the necessay elevation adjustments and of course ample windage. I'm quite familiar with shooting single shot .22 rifles to this distance, but need advise for the 15-22......best regards Plum

Why not a carry handle? Or the stock sights that come on the 15-22? Both of those will have wind/elevation adjustments.

Because he's taking on the challenge of shooting 300yds with a .22lr using irons. Take a look at the Matech sight, and you'll see how they can be useful.

Well if he's using mini-mags with a BC of .118 at 0 elevation (dont know where he is located) in 45 degree weather and a 100 yard zero your lookin at a 120 inch hold over or 10 feet at that range the bullet has dropped 164 inches from the muzzle or almost 14 feet. time of flight is 1 second and if you have a 10 mph full value wind you have nearly 44 inches of wind drift.

Now that is a competition! 300 yrds to place a small piece of lead on a 24x24 can't be easy with iron sights. I'm not even sure I'd be able to see that far so my hats off to you guy's able to do it.

I am familiar with the Matech. I am unsure how that is any better than the elevation drum and windage on a carry handle: (ignore the red circle, I pulled this from the net)

Might as well hang that target in Italy, I have just as good a chance hitting it with iron sights. At 100 yards, I pull the trigger and hear the target get hit seconds later, at 300 you can go and buy pizza and return before you hear it strike.. hats off...

ya know I just gotta try it now just for the heck of it, I did hit the 8 in target at 500 yards with the 15 and the 5.56 has a 54 inch drop using kentucky windage ( 8 out of 15 rounds ). I just wanna see if I can do it

The M16/M2 is a 2MOA rifle using issue ammo. 4" at 200 meters. 8" at 500 meters. 10" at 500 meters. Hitting an 8" target at 500 meters will take some serious optics, a solid bench, and a lot of luck.

M193 should give you around 3200-3250 fps from the muzzle of a 20" weapon and around 3150 from a 16" weapon.

I did look it up before I tried it 6 ft drop @ 500 yards.
I should have got a picture of the range officers face when he took me out to the 500 to retrieve the target and saw that I actually hit it that many times and he was the one who took me out to set the target and saw it was a clean target.
note: none of the rounds hit the center but was in the black mostly on the bottom I wish I would have saved the target and I used a bench and a scope 3 x12 x 50E and I needed a higher resolution scope at that range I could see the target but not the holes besides I was using Kentucky Windage. I went straight up from the target approx 1 foot from the top of the berm and no wind heres a pic of the rifle and scope I was using.

Anything is possible and I'm sure people will be around to extoll their world records with the 15-22 at 500 yards and 300 yards is so easy they headshot squirrels and apples and shotgun shells.
But really, 300 yards is honestly pushing the maximum range of a 22 if not really over, honestly, let ALONE with iron sights.
And even if its routinely done, why would you really want to other than once or twice for fun?

I only shot once at 500 just to see if I could hit it for the challenge as well as I am going to try the 300 for the same reason with the 15-22, and note I never said I hit bulls eye just hit the target in the black.
To answer the second part of your statement I was a Marine and we love challenges and competition, if you go to the ranges around here there is always marines and former Marines competing against each other and ourselves. Its ingrained and that's why I did it.
btw does anyone know where I can find a chart on 22 LR round specs as far as drops velocities ect to the 300-400 yard marks ?
