What is date of MFG?

I have a K38, SN# K100XXX on the butt and 61755 on the crane. I had on Smith tell me that it was 1950 but why the two sets of numbers?

The other set of numbers are simply assembly numbers that dont mean anything... SCSW says shipped around 1950.
