What is the most accurate current model S&W 9mm

I think accuracy is a misnomer. Any 9mm pistol is only as accurate as the
shooter using it.

In my honest opinion, any pistol or revolver is capable of greater accuracy than the shooter is able to deliver.

That being said, the M&P Pro Series 9 I think is the only competetion ready
pistol currently offered from the factory in 9mm.

9's are inherently accurate, flat shooting guns to begin with. Even compact carry defensive pistols with 3 inch barrels are capable of excellent accuracy.

In the right hands.

No magic bullets. No magic gun that will make you an expert shot out of the box. Practice, practice and more practice....makes the shooter.

I have a heavily modified MKII that I've done everything I can think of to improve accuracy. But it doesn't come close to my 41. And I'm the same nut behind both triggers. While I agree with your general premise a better gun can make you a much better shooter.

Although I don't own one a dear friend of mine has a 952 that is truly spectacular. It shoots CCI Blazer into tiny little groups effortlessly! Quite on par with his original M52.

Thanks. That's what I figured. I guess the 952 will be my grail gun then. It's gonna take a while to save for that one.

Sig has the 210-5 9mm with 6" barrel but I think it is discontinued also.
Aside from the custom 1911 mfgrs that will add a 6 inch barrel I dont
think anyone but Glock makes a pistol today with 6" barrel.
Considering the SW 41 does so well with 7" barrel, I dont think it
would be way out of line to make a target 9mm pistol with 7" barrel.

There are several that have about the same accuracy. Depends on what you want and want to spend. The P/C autos in 9mm all shoot great. Depends on what model you want and what you want to use it for. The single action guns are the easiest to shoot target wise because of the trigger and 5-6" barrel length. The 6906 and 5906(IDPA) models shoot just as well 1" or better at 25 yds, under 2" at 50 depending on the ammo you use, but are a little harder to shoot because of the sight radius. But they also have a use as a self defense/ IDPA, shooting school/ type of gun.
My favorite to shoot is actually a 5" 5906 (IDPA) type model that they did a short run of. The gun has enough weight it hardly kicks.
However these P/C guns are drying up quickly and prices are starting to sky rocket. The factory no longer makes anything in this type 5906/952 etc. and probably will not again at least at an affordable price.
It pretty east to make a 1911 type pistol shoot 1" or better at 25,some will come close out of the box 2" or so (many standard 9s will do this,SIG/some Berettas ,which might be plenty good for you. if you buy a standard make SPFLD or S/W with target sights, a custom fit bushing and/or link and /or after market barrel like Nowlin/KKM/Kart will do the trick. So standard gun, now 9-1000, 3-400 more for barrel work. Same 1400-1500. My friends and I have experimented for over 15 yrs or so, doing this for alot of new shooters.
The nice thing about the P/C guns is there are easy to shoot and maintain, much more that a 1911 format.IMO
So you have to decide what you want and then hunt for it. Im sure people here will help. Good luck ,Bob

I'm sorry but would you explain what the term P/C means
with regards to SW pistols ? I'm guessing performance
center? I dont know what models they make other
than they discontinued the 952 I heard.

I have five SW pistols but the newest is 25 years old and
I am not real familar with the models of the last two
decades.

Thank you so much. Now we're cooking with gas! I'm aware of the offerings from Sig and don't forget the CZ Shadow Target. But I'd prefer to give my love to S&W in thanks for their wonderful model 41.

Thanks again for the great info.

It is kinda funny because i always considered that there were other
pistol designs that were much more accurate because they had barrels
firmly affixed to the body like the German Luger for instance. Think about
the SW 41 and why it is very accurate compared to other designs that have
the barrels flopping around all the time. Maybe even the P-38 pistol.
Didnt it also have fixed barrel ?

I had a SIG 210 in the past and I have a S&W 952 now. The latter is more accurate than the SIG and it's more in balance, at least in my hand. At 25 yards, single-handed, I shoot an average of 8,6/10 with this fantastic gun.

I agree. The 41 has both sights on the barrel like a rifle. And it shoots like one. I guess it gets more complicated with centerfire designs which is reflected in the price.

I shot ten rounds through a pea sized hole at 30' last week with iron sights on a 41. Results not typical. I may never do that again but it showed me how much better the gun was than me. I had several other groups under dime size. Any dummy can shoot better with a gun of this quality. I'm one!

Ten-2, I have never owned a 952, maybe one day ,if I find a deal, but I have and have had numerous 5906 PPC versions, posting a photo these, all doublestack guns.Because of a rule change allowing 6" guns in the distinguished semi auto portion of the competition, many guys are getting rid of their 5" guns (2nd from top on left side) and you may find one cheaper than a 952. They have a tri-set sight for 7 -25-50 yard shooting, but its basically still just a big rear sight, and if you want the gun just for shooting, not carrying its a great sight.
There were 2 versions , earlier ones have a reduced slide profile at the end of the barrel, later ones are like the one in the photo.
I have seen several of these for sale in the last 6 months on various forums. Good luck, Bob

Your welcome, just trying to figure out your options, the Performance center 9s are such a hoot to shoot, easy to maintain, and WERE affordable, its really a shame that they arent being made any more.Ive added a couple since that photo was taken, just because, normally I dont just buy that many guns. Keep your eyes open, if I hear of one being sold, I'll let you know. Bob
