I would like to know what do you think is the best position for conceal carry? I personally like 2:30-3:00. For me that is the fastest position to draw....a least that was what I was taught and believe , it is also comfortable for me.

I bought a holster that is extremely comfortable but think I'll have to return it. It pulls my britches down and after calling the company Now they tell me it's for 4:00 around back pocket area only! I told them I've tried all the positions but the farther back i go....down they go even faster!!

Thanks in advance for the input!

I understand we are all different and what works for me will not necessarily work for you.

This pretty much sums it up.

I like to carry my 642 IWB in the neighborhood of 3:30-4:00. FYI, I'm right-handed and carry for a normal strong-side draw. My holster has some forward cant. It's what works for me.

Usually I carry IWB at 8:30 (left hand) with a small frame auto or revolver. An alternate carry for me is front pocket in a Nemesis holster. As my shoulders get older, I'm having to carry full size pistols further forward or in a crossdraw position. It just plain hurts to have to clear a 6" model 66 from a strong side belt holster. But they aren't CC guns anyway.
That's what works best for me. You are going to have to experiment to see what's best for you.

Maybe I could get used to that. :)

Pick what works for you and stick to it. If you switch around with different guns in different places, you may have to pat yourself down to find the gun!! :)
A consideration is how much time you spend shooting competition, and the memory implant that makes. If my gun isn't somewhere from 3 to 5 o'clock (right handed), I just lost my gun.

Yeah those guns aren't exactly CC and heavy too! Lol. I have been trying what works for me and my trial is just about over.

I am trying to like these holsters and do because they are very comfortable and can't tell they're on. My problem I'm mooning people because they pull my britches down!! Lol. The farther back from a 3:00 position the worse i gets and down they go and its so aggravating I'm fixing to send it back. The company rep said it had to be at the 4:00 position which I'm not fond of and I told then that made it worse! So looks like a trip to UPS!

There is no one fits all answer. My absolute favorite method of carry when it's an option is jacket/coat pocket carry. You can have a firing grip on your gun with no one the wiser. I know I've done so many times waiting in line at the 7-eleven and countless other situations when out and about. In the case of the concealed hammer snub revolver, you can even shoot from inside the pocket from close quarters...the fastest draw being no draw. Of course the sticker is you can never take your jacket off, so that must be taken into consideration. I really try to avoid IWB if I can help it and absolutely despise AIWB preferring OWB positioned just behind point of strong side hip.

Lol, it wouldn't take much for me to lose it! Yeah if it not close to 3:00 I'd be lost!

Things have changed as I've grown older and had more medical problems. I carried IWB, appendix for years until it was too uncomfortable. Now it's pocket w/holster almost 100% just b/c it's the only way I can do it absent discomfort that is just not tolerable. This goes hand in hand with smaller and lighter weapons as well.

Daniel you are correct, there is no one answer. You also must be in a colder climate. It's been around 100° so the idea of a jacket makes me sweat! Lol. I have to carry IWB for now and when I go much past 3:00 I start losing my britches! :D

I know what you mean and there aren't many options. I live in a CC state which I wish it was open and I wouldn't have to go through this. I have dunlap disease so I cant appendix carry. :)

Big Tee,

What kind of belt and holster are you using? A good belt, like a Beltman belt, can help support the gun without causing your pants to sag down.

Another option is suspenders. I've never used them, but Perry suspenders are popular with gun carriers since they attach to the belt and not the pants.

Just some things to think about.

I get my fastest draws from the 4 o'clock position. But I rarely carry there.

IWB appendix carry for me. Most comfortable and most concealable.

Heavy irons it's shoulder holstered 6" to 10 1/2" barrels. The 4"/ 5" iwb.

BigBill I couldn't handle all that steel carrying all the time. About the heaviest I carry is a little over 2 lbs and 5" barrel!:D

The answer depends on the weapon and what you're wearing . . .

Actually several. I am using the lightest since I have this problem which is a Beretta PX 4 .40 SC and my M&P45C .

I keep my 642 and LCP in my pocket

LOST MY WAIST TOO

Big Tee: Continental hit the nail on the head w/his 2nd post in this thread. I have excellent holsters from Lobo, but using regular pant belts had my drawers slipping down too as I moved around. A friend clued me in to an excellent belt made by Wilderness Tactical Products called the "5 stitch Instructor Belt". Unlike a regular belt w/spaced buckle holes, this one is held around your waist w/Velcro, which may be tightened as little or tight as you wish. I cinch it up pretty tight & my gun never rides down (37oz model 66 w/3" barrel loaded plus holster weight) & loosen it slightly as I get seated in my car. The "buckle" is so strong & the manner in which the belt weaves thru it, you could be airlifted by helicopter. I very rarely carry an N-Frame, but know confidently the belt would hold it securely. Price? I've cringed at ads for "shooter's belts" that are upwards of $100. I think these sell for around $50-$60. Bottom line: I had almost resolved I'd never be able to carry more than a 28oz loaded J-Frame. Now life is good, I can carry my favorite K-Frames.
Good Luck, Hank M.
