What he has told me is that it is a .44 special nickel with the numbers he found 60065

Its a pre-WW2 revolver with a shortened barrel, and a non-factory front sight. Ie, the
barrel has been cut, and something brazed/silver-soldered on top of the barrel to
serve as a front sight.

Mike has the details correct. Likely a .44 Hand Ejector second model, refinished and with later factory stocks.

I suspect the number you quoted is not from the bottom of the grip frame; if so and you can post that number we can let you know about when it shipped from the factory.
 
I am getting the pics from the guy that has it right now....He just supplied me a serial number of 18685...sure appreciate your help Bill & Mike & Alan
