What is your favorite handgun caliber? It can be revolver or autoloader.

Mine is the 357 Magnum.
Because I can shoot a powerful round and also the wonderful 38 Special, police choice and a bad-guy stopper for many years, even when the 45 Colt round was available. You can shoot both with in a 357 Magnum revolver.

Next, 9mm.
Cheap, ubiquitous, autoloader that will get the job done. Still, not up to the 357 Magnum for power and versatility (i.e. 38 Special).

Please participate.

God bless,
Birdgun

I love a good .22. A close second is the .44 Special. :D

Anyone with a M1 Carbine and a machete for a profile pic is a level headed guy in my book! Yeah, 22 is hard to beat. I've too much shooting to do before deciding on the centerfire of choice.

I'm low on the revolver numbers only own 15 but my favorite is my 625 in 45 acp next is 45 colt, but just got the 45 colt that might change around over time.

Redford, watch out. Those 45 Colt guns can be addictive. I've only got seven (S&W 25-5, S&W 625-9, two Uberti Model P, two Uberti Open Tops, Uberti Model 1873 Sporting Rifle).

My favorite handgun cartrige is .22 LR but if you asked which I'd pick if I could only use one cartridge it would be .44 Magnum. With all due respect for .357s I've loaded down .44 Magnum to 180 grain cast bullets at 700 fps and there is no comparison on the high end. For a bullet caster the cost difference is insignificant. If the revolver has to be smaller there is the Model 69.

Automatics are great and everyone should have a few but not until after they have a dozen revolvers.

I'm in love -I've always been - with .38 Spl. Very close to it, follows the .22 (LR & short: the last one, very unusual today and hard to find, is "delicious" to me).

IF I COULD HAVE ONLY ONE GUN---FOR PURE VERSATILITY OF PURPOSE--ON THE RANGE, IN THE FIELD, FOR CCW /SD OR HD--AS WELL AS THE WIDE VARIETY OF AMMO, IN .37 MAG/.38 SPL, I WOULD CHOOSE THE M686+, 4", MOUNTAIN GUN.......(EXTREME LEFT IN THE 3 MG LINEUP, BELOW)
