I realize that this can change daily even. ;)

What is your favorite scattergun du jour?

As of this writing, it would have to be my
Stevens.410 SxS. There is something graceful almost delicate about this old bird getter. My only shotgun with better balance is a H&R single in 28 gauge.

What's yours?

Best,
Charles

I bought my son a H&R single shot .410 and a Stevens 311 .410 when he was eight years old. He took them on 12/23/12, the day after I bought him a gunsafe for Christmas. He used to shoot running rabbit discs at South River Gun Club with the SxS. I have a 311 and a Fox B, both in 20 gauge. I have a Weatherby Athena IV 20 gauge I truly like.

I got this shotgun for Christmas when I was 15. It's look has changed over the years, it originally had a 28" Remchoke barrel. I changed that out for a 20" IC barrel with rifle sights, put a +3 mag extention on it with a GG&G follower and a Fortmanns left handed safety conversion.

My #1 favorite is my 12 Ga. Browning Belgium Superposed Grade 2 made in the late 50's and my 2nd favorite is a 12 ga. Browning Belgium A-5 Grade 1 also made in the late 50's. I use them as much as I can and my other Shotguns only get used on occasion. They are my bird guns, and my Sorting Clays, Skeet and Trap go-to's as well. They have both had thousands and thousands of Shells through them! :)

I was lucky enough to find both if them new in the original cases and never shot (not from the same seller) even though I actually acquired them in the early 1990's. I found them both in the Shotgun News which was THE PLACE before Al Gore invented the internet :p

I'd have to say my favorite bird gun is my 16-gauge Arrieta 578. It was given to me by my family back in the year 2000.

Arrieta 578, 16-gauge, 28-inch barrels, choked Sk-1 & Sk-2.

Now, my next favorite bird gun is my 20-gauge Browning Superposed Lightning. I bought this gun brand new out of the Yong-Song PX in Seoul, S. Korea, back in 1972 for the sum of $197. I have grassed many a bird with this fine shotgun: valley quail, mountain quail, Gambel's quail, scaled quail, bobwhite quail, morning dove, white wing dove, sharptail grouse, pheasants, a few teal, and a couple of aggravating crows.

Browning Superposed Lightning, 20-gauge, 26.5-inch barrels, choked imp cyl & mod.

My Remington 1100 Tactical:

A tank of a shotgun. Has been 100% reliable with every 2 3/4" shell I've tried. Nine shot total capacity. Loaded with 12 pellet 0 buck loads, it is the rough ballistic equivalent of a .32 ACP submachine gun with a 108 round magazine that can be fired off in less than 3 seconds.

If there was such a thing as a burglar's worse nightmare, this would be it!!

Started shooting a lot of sporting clays and 5 stand and got the itch for a new shotgun. Found out Benelli's fit me and came home with a montifeltro sporting. At 7 lbs. it swings real well and even with the 30" barrel it worked pretty good for skeet. Next weekend I'm trying my hand at trap for the first time. It quickly became a favorite!
