Yep, but the term "bird's eye" maple is really just a description for the wood that happens to have all those little "eyes" in it. They are in fact wood from the Sugar maple tree...the same one that gives us that fantastic northern yankee bluebelly pancake syrup!!!! The same tree that flavors Jim Beam maple whiskey.
