What Pistol Cases Do You Store Your Shield In?

Unless you were really lucky your Shield would have come in a cardboard box...
I know while in use my pistols usually are in a holster & loaded up ready to go
But as I have several pistols that sit around in the safe, I thought about a small case to store them in
Even the Performance Center Pistol came in a huge cardboard box that is totally useless IMO & sit in the top of a closet in storage
I wanted something small so I can stack them in my safe conserving space
Midway USA has this small case for a 3.1" Shield offered & now shows 6/six available as I ordered 2/two & they are due today

These HUGE worthless cardboard boxes just taking up space
S&W needs to start offering a real case of some type like they used too = those blue plastic cases, maybe they had rust issues with that open celled foam they used to use
That is about the time I started seeing the blue plastic bags every Smith seems to come in now days...

For the cost of the cleaning kit that came with my PC they could have bought a case

I noticed the newest ones come with a cheap Chinese pocketknife & flashlight

I keep the boxes in a bin in my garage, never to be seen again unless I sell the gun. The guns are on a shelf in the safe. But I agree that the cardboard boxes are a huge turnoff for me. My 2.0 full size and Compact came in a nice hard plastic case, but then they switched to the cheap cardboard. It just reeks of penny pinching. And it isn’t the foam causing rust. My Ruger GP100 came in a hard plastic case with no foam. Just a cut out for the gun and other stuff. Especially with the Performance Center guns. Not like they’re passing the savings on to you. The guns aren’t cheap anymore.

I use BoreStores or the similar product from Midway.

Protects finish and takes up less space

Definitely would not store in any kind of padded case/box. They can retain moisture.

NOTE these have stainless steel rods & will destroy a bore
Thinking about coating them with heat shrink tubing so they can actually be used to clean a bore larger than 22lr as they diameter would be increased...

If not in use in a soft holster or lying on a shelf...........I don't treat my plastic bullet squirter's the same as my real metal guns.

I use the soft handgun cases my local Bass Pro sells for $5. The only cheap thing at Bass Pro.

Same here. Never a problem.

I will also sometimes store them in their leather holsters. Also never a problem.

Anyhow here they are & they were molded after a Shield 1.0 or 2.0 with two flat based magazines, There is enough give for the extended magazines but they don't fit 100% = Anal About things like that..
The label on the front is Velcro & comes off for changing it out...

These will stack in the safe easily & are much better than a carboard box for $12.08ea

I just with through this as I ran out of space due to a micro 9 binge and I don't want to build a new cabinet yet so I've been modifying some small boxes for them using PE. I marked them also to know what's in them.

Germany probably, but they are not mine. The photo is something I grabbed from another forum, of the way a collector in Germany organized some of his pistols.
He took pictures of several different storage variations he used to organize his handguns, and I liked this one best, so I grabbed the picture to use as reference.
BTW, he had at least three safes this size, full of mostly handguns, along one wall of his room. Has an amazing collection, and if I remember correctly, he worked in Germany's armaments industry.

Mine are in a shelf in my safe. The boxes are in the attic. The only reason I keep the boxes is in case I sell them. I am OK with cardboard if it keeps the price down.

I keep my S&W boxes stored separate from guns to avoid wear and tear on boxes. I store S&Ws in the plastic Taurus cases. You can usually find a Taurus model that is a copy that will fit your S&W perfectly.

I have Pelican Vault cases for most of my handguns but they take up way too much room in the safe to keep them in them for storage (more for when I go to the range). I was thinking about adding a handgun organizer to the back of my safe door...
