What would be a decent, not over priced quad rail for an M&P Sport II?

I find quad rails like holding onto a cheese grater. If you want to hang stuff off your AR, look into the newer key lock or m-lok handguards.

I agree, but you can always buy rail covers, they help tremendously. Are they making M-Lok and Keymod in drop in rails?

Seekins precision offers a top quality item at a great price.

My rifle has a quad rail and it came with covers for three sides of it. If you buy one, make certain it has the covers with it. Makes a real difference in how it feels.

Drop in Keymods are fairly easy to come by. I was thinking specifically about the Magpul handguard for the M-lok drop in, but others are available if you look hard enough. I'm sure NcStar sells a mid-length. Midwest Industries sells both M-lok and Keymod drop ins.

My objection to rail covers is they make the handguard bigger in diameter than I find comfortable.

The first thing to consider is what you want to do with the front sight. If you're fine with the A2 front sight then what you'll be looking for is a carbine length "drop-in" handguard. lf you think you might want a flip down front sight now is the time to make that decision and get a "free float" handguard. A free float handguard also allows you to chose from a variety of lengths.

I plan on keeping the front sight. I would just like a rail, at least to mount a bi-pod for when my wife shots it, she prefers that.

Midwest Industries makes some nice light drop in quadrails, https://www.midwayusa.com/product/2...iece-gen-2-handguard-quad-rail-ar-15-aluminum, for slightly more than the utg, usually in the $124 to $160 price range, depending on what length you need, carbine, mid or rifle. They also offer a drop in with modular rails, so you just have rails where you want them, https://www.midwayusa.com/product/2...drop-in-modular-rail-handguard-ar-15-aluminum. One thing that I have found in my experience is that the sub $100 rails tend to heavier than the offerings from Midwest Industries.

On the plus side the Midwest Industries drop in rails are basically a no tools required installation and removal, and have the quick detach sling sockets built in. However, you can experience some slop similar to the standard plastic handguards that come on the MP15, just in case that bothers you. This slop can vary from almost nonexistent to irritatingly bothersome depending on the manuafucturer of the upper. They fit pretty snug on my MP15A and MP15 OR carbines, but were just too loose/sloppy on a Bushmaster upper that I have (not so much that they would not work, but it was just irritating). I have found them to be more than adequate for attaching lights and forward grips to my Smith & Wesson and Rock River and PSA carbines.

Troy Industries has some nice drop in rails but are slightly higher than Midwest Industries. Daniel Defense did make some very nice light drop ins. (EZ Car) at a significantly higher price, which had set screws to snug them up and eliminate any slop. I am not sure if they still offer these though.

Thanks for all the replies. Not sure which way to go yet. Have to do some research on the M-Lok systems.
