Looking to mount a scope on my M&P 15 (811000). I have been looking at a Leupold VxII 1-4x20 or the Leupold AR 1.5-4x20 but open to other American made scopes. Looking to use it for Coyote with shots < 150 yrds. Suggestions on Scopes and even more important mounting? Handle Mount vs removing Handle? if you remove the Handle is there a conflict with the front site? Thanks for your help!

I just got a Swift 1.5-4.5x32 and have been REALLY impressed. IMHO, side-by-side with the Leupolds, you'd be hard pressed to tell which is which - and A LOT cheaper.

I bought a NCStar 3x9x42 Mark III tactical. Great scope. Dead on and clarity is very good. I know some people think they're cheap (which they are compared to expensive ones) but cheap doesn't always mean bad. I also put one on my M&P1522.

Thanks Guys for the great suggestions. I'll check them out and see if I can compare them side by side.
Any ideals on my second item. I am really torn on how to mount it. Should I mount it to the handle of the M&P 15 or remove the handle and mount it to the rail? If I mount it to the rail will there be any issues with the front site?

ChattanoogaPhil,

That is an awesome website. It appears to have all the info I need.
Many Thanks!!!!! You are another fine example of a contributor that makes the S&W Forum the premier site on S&W. :)

Thanks for the kinds words. And you are quite welcome, Trukin.
Looking forward to seeing pics when you're done.

I am debating the same thing right now. I really want the Trijicon Accupoint 1-4. A local shop has one and the optics are incredible. If I go this way I will probably use a Burris PEPR mount. The only problem is the $760 price tag for the scope.

A budget option I am considering is the Weaver 1-3 or the Miller DMS 1-4. I have mounted a 3-9 Weaver in the flattop with Leupold "see through" rings (to get extra height). The see through rings were only $15 and got the scope at the correct height. I think the 1-3 weaver would work nearly as well for only $150.

Let us know what you do and how it works.

I'm also debating the same. The one thing that's not appealing to me about the DMS is the weight. According to Midway specs-- DMS is a whopping 18oz. Add the PEPR (8.7oz) and I'll be piling on well over a pound and a half for a low power optic. Yikes!

ChattanoogaPhil I love the link you posted and am trying to narrow the search down. I am going to the NRA convention in May (14th to 16th) in Charlotte and plan on looking at some of the mounts there. After I make my decision I'll post it here with some pictures. I have a Leupold Mark AR scope on order so I am almost there ......... then comes the light, laser and ................. I should have stuck with Hot Rods. :)

K1500, thanks for the info. I'll check out those rings as well.
