I'm doing a deep clean and replacing all of the springs on my 640 no dash.

Anybody know what punch size is required to remove the pin that secures the locking bolt?

I don't have one small enough and need to order it.

Thanks.

That's one part I have never needed t remove from any S&W I have ever owned over the past 30+ years. A small shot of Gunscrubber or brake & Parts cleaner has always taken care of any dirt in there for me. I especially try and keep from removing any pins unless necessary for replacing parts. Too easy to bugger up the gun and reduce it's value. If you have to , be sure to use CUP HEAD punches.

Just like most things, all you need is the right tools, an understanding/competence to perform the job at hand, and patience... all we're talking about is tapping a pin out for a proper cleaning/spring replacement and tapping the pin back in.
